I had the same problem deciding and went for black. It is a beautiful glossy black and lume is stunning. Difficult to choose as sairy has said because they're not drastically different.

I meant that the blue one look nearly the same with the black one, also it's easy attractive people. The blue one is extremely beautiful and special. And the black one is extremely strong.

Both...but my favorite is the brunette.
Love your brown leather straps. May I ask where did you have this one and how much for them please?

When comparing the new and old versions, it is worth noting that the one with the ceramic bezel inlay is taller than the one with the aluminium part. It might not be much on paper, but it feels noticeably less flat on the wrist, which for me is one of the attractions with the original design.

That's true also in comparing the newer 2500 movement, found in both the last iteration of the wave dial (2220) and on the newer ceramic SMP versus the older caliber 1120 SMP's. (2531, 2254, etc) The 2500 movement is thicker, so the caseback on the SMP's with that movement stick out on the center to accomodate it.

I was able to source a sapphire caseback for my medium SMPc and one of the added benefits, in addition to see the nice movement, was a .4mm reduction in overall case thickness (since the movement without the magnetic cover that goes in the back fitted in the more shallow sapphire caseback):

Watch now sits flatter against the wrist:

It's a Hirsch Grand Duke in Golden Brown, costs about $55. It's a water resistant strap, 6mm thick, embossed cowhide on top/divers glove leather on the bottom, and has a thicker sport buckle. Guaranteed for one year and requires no care at all except rinse it off/wipe it down every so often.

It took me some time to decide and I chose the black one. I love the black dial and how the almost charcoal gray ceramic bezel complements each other

Had the black, sold it, now I miss it.
Maybe I'll buy another after seeing this thread... would make a nice Christmas Gift to myself.

Part of me (not being an SMP owner, yet) is still yearning for the last of the wavy dials (2220.80.00) but mint examples I have seen recently are close in price to that of a discounted brand new SMPc. Is the latest, flat dial a considerably better buy/improvement, would it be fair to say?

I was wondering if you could share more or less the price point of the used wavy dials. Just as curiosity.

The blue actually looks quite black under indirect lighting and is very subtle in general so it'd be my preference but its up to you.

I was partial to the blue. Tried and compared blue and black but kept fondling the blue. So here it is.

Blue for me. The dial is almost mesmerizing. When I want to wear a black watch, I wear my 25 year old Speedmaster that still looks new.

I had both colors, regular and 50th anniv versions, FS and mid size....... prefer black since the blue color is too light for my taste (wish they use instead the more deep blue used on the PO's):

The black SMP in he first photo looks fantastic with that brown strap. I've never thought of putting a leather strap on mine. Can I ask what sort of strap it is?

I always had blue dial Seamasters and loved em. But this new crop with the black dials is how I'd go now. Best looking Seamasters ever.

Old version with wave dial - I like blue better
New version - I like black better
You only have this watch or this diver - black better
You have several traditional divers- blue is better

If this is your one and only watch...black. If you plan on having another Omega....blue.

My sentiments exactly. On the black, wave dials the pattern can be almost invisible, while they are much more obvious on the blue. Also, the blue bezel can fade very nicely 馃憤

I have both black and blue. If you are traditional choose black, if you are modern, need something special, strong, choose blue.

But in my opinion, the blue one is nearly the same black one when you have low light or not strong light enough. You can compare both of them here:

Wow. What a pair of stunners (!). Thanks for sharing. I've just spontaneously acquired (fortuitous timing) a Bond Ltd edition, 2226.80 yet still hope to add a SMPc to my collection one day

Ones I was looking at were anything between 拢1500 and 拢2500 (prestine with papers etc)
