SM300 date or no date? 165.024 vs 166.024

Greetings!

Recently I'm looking for a big triangle vintage seamaster 300. And I noticed that the no date version(165.024) seems to have higher market value than the date version(166.024). Is is true?

I also saw this watch from a Japanese dealer, everything looks good to me and the condition to me is very very good, but it seems with that price I can even get a no date version which I actually prefer. Could you please help to give any suggestion on the originality of the watch as well as the current market value?

Some pictures from the website:

Best regards,
Rick

Hi Rick : YES 😀 Same as Sub´s .

The watch looks good (dial is original!), with a wrong (Omega?) bracelet. The glass might be original Omega-but I don t see the logo...

The price is from 2020 😁, when prices were "up", but as a dealer-price (EoA!!) IMO still OK.
Good hunting (for a non date 👍 ). atb Jo

Thank you very much for your comment! Yes, the bracelet is incorrect. The dealer is a very honest dealer to me, I've seen quite lot of their listings and all vintage omegas they sell seems to be legit to me. They also have the watch serviced.

The fact with dial alignment pin holes is widely known I assume...
The bracelet is Omega Novolink 1171/633, common in Asia regions.
I`d expect on this late batch the black date wheel.... otherwise it is in very good condidion

Edit: the BT non-date verison is more sought after, as it looks like the holy grail military version.
But considering the pieces made, the date version without BT is the rarest...

I really like the condition of this watch. I'll try to see if I can negotiate on the price.

Can you share a bit more information on the non big-triangle pieces being more rare? The SM300 I picked up earlier this year from Israel falls within that category so I'm interested to know where that info comes from?

It comes from my db of EoA Omega has issued over the years and that I was able to find on the interent foras/adverts/auctions.....the non triangle, silver date, naiad crown 166.024 were made just in the first batch (not talking about the Comex pre-production batch) in OCT1968.
Since I don`t have any date version from Israel in my db, can you maybe please share details form the EoA with me over the PM? Don`t need the full serial number for your security. THx!

While rarer I don’t think it makes it more valuable. There is definitely a price premium on Big Triangle models.

Sure, as those are two different things.

it is a 1171 Noviolink bracelet with 633 endlinks. Can it be the period correct bracelet for this watch?

how do you run an effective search on here? I put in the model number in the keyword box, then restrict the results to the “private watches for sale” section. Invariably I get the pic of the cat with the “your search was too broad” language. Happens to me a lot. Not sure how to refine it down to actually show some results?

search in google. keyword can be FS 166.024 or SOLD 166.024, and limit the search result to this site. You can try to search:
Sold 166.024 site: omegaforums.net
remove the space between : and o above. I deliberately added a space in between to avoid them being interpreted to an emoji.

Thank you! I had no idea that work around existed. I wonder why this site doesn’t just provide the results, regardless of how many the search function finds?

Understood; however, it’s not necessary to do so on the other sites. On the other forums in which I participate, those forums’ search functions display the results so there’s no need to search outside of the site.

I`d say it is, as it is early seventies bracelet, and watch made 67-68 was sold one-two years later usually, so why not...
I got JUN1970 Speedy on this bracelet too.
