The Submariner is a fine time piece. One day there will be time enough at last and I will own this watch. Do you prefer the date or no date on the dial?...

It’s your personal preference but I’d go blue.

Oops.. I just noticed this thread is under Rolex watches
Sorry. I Reposted this in the (Modern Omega Watch) section. I am trying to delete this thread as it is in a Rolex section.

If you already have a watch with the date complication I'd go with the no date sub. It's nice to enjoy a simple time only piece with a clean dial when you feel like it.

This thread was about the blue Aqua Terra and the bond version with yellow highlights.

I’ve been drinking Cognac but not that much wth?

    Re date no date...

Imho the cyclops is part of the Rolex DNA easily visible from a distance. If your going to wear a modern Rolex wear the most Rolex version. Otherwise just buy an Omega.

I see the Submariner a tool watch. At least that was the intention 60 years ago, so no date for me.

Yes. I have a 2017 Aquaracer with the date/Cyclops.. (don't know why they put a Cyclops) but I think this is one of Tag's Nicest. Anyway I have a few with the date complication.

On the Sub “date / no-date” topic. Definately date for me.

A no-date sub is the true original. Unless you wear the watch as a daily beater, I recommend to take the no-date.

No date...or maybe a date without the cyclops.

Many consider the cyclops and date a classic part of the rolex/sub styling, but I think the no date has a super clean look to it. Plus, makes for one less thing to set if not kept on a winder/worn daily.

    No date, definitely.
It appears more balanced. Having said that the ceramic sub is my least favourite of my Rolex tool watches. I would read the early comments from people who hated the new case shape. I dismissed them as wrong, no question.
Then I bought one. It sits completely differently on the wrist. I feel I'm wearing a manacle. If I were you, and new/near new was important, I'd find a mint/virtually unused copy of the last of the original SeaDwellers. It's got all the hallmarks of a classic, you get a subtle date without the magnifier, wrist comfort, real tool watch credibility, and the sure thing knowledge that its value will increase in the not too distant future. And for now, either of the two will cost around the same.
I'd think twice, but I fully understand if the Ceramic Sub is what you really want. Lose the date.
