I have a date, it's more practical for me because i always forget the date. Cant go wrong with both though.
If you plan to wear it every day, then I like having the date as a useful complication. If you won’t be and it won’t be on a winder, then no-date because setting the date every time you wear it gets tedious.
14060; 2 Liner - no date - no lupe - last reference with classic small case -classic lug holes - all tritium
I like the symmetry that comes with having no Date complication, but at the same time, I find the date really useful and the cyclops is a very iconic Rolex trait. Of course now that the patent expired many watches have it, but it's still very Rolex. Ultimately the main reason for me to get the Date was the practical side - I do check the date often on a watch and am always annoyed when it isn't there and I have the dig the phone out of the pocket. Cosmetically, sometimes it's really nice to look at how light reflects on the cyclops (but it can be annoying too if you look at it from the wrong angle and it actually makes the date harder to read). I'll end with a few shots of my 116610LN...
No date. I bought this 14060M a year ago, and its the perfect compromise between new and vintage design
Have one of each! Wear the date when you need to know the date, and the other when you don’t. Simples! Easy for me to say, but I don’t have either yet- but shortly due to change. I’ve gone for the no-date to start...
Many will say no date is more balance/pleasing aesthetically which I agree. But when Rolex was born as a tool watch company, their focus was to build the most purposeful and reliable tool for its purposes. I would say date for me, because it’s simply little more useful for most days. But I also wear no date when I want to forget about the date.
If you need to know the date, but prefer the no-date Sub, just buy a good pen and scribble the date on your thumb every morning. ;-) Yeah, sorry... not really much help.
