Although earlier in this thread 1665020 was discounted as being the same as 166025 ? And 166025 clearly has differences to 166020 (lugs …)

The 14770 is the earlier Omega reference, which presumable morphed into the 166.020 around ‘63.
The 166.5020 is the English made version of the Swiss cased reference 166.020.

It is however interesting that the advert references the earlier Swiss case reference alongside the English equivalent of the later Swiss reference.

Hi All. I came to this 4 year old thread ‘SM 166025 SC-62’ because it was the only link I could find to this reference number on the web.
The revived discussion has been very interesting, however I’m not sure (confused) I’m any closer to defining the origin / history of this model reference (unlike 166020 for instance).
The latest ‘feeling’ from the forum seems to have morphed into it being a later 14770.
I’m still no closer I feel to understanding what this more uncommon ‘025’ means as opposed to the more common ‘020’. Conjecture has ranged from the ‘5’ being ‘English manufacture / assembly’ to a 18k Only ‘luxury’ range, and even a mid-stamped 166020. There have only been three found of the 166025 I believe.
Does anyone have a confident description of the meaning and origin of 166025 SC-62 ?

166025 is a Swiss reference manufactured by Serva S.A. in La-Chaux-de-Fonds and it is likely a replacement for 14743.

There are no links between 166025 and 166020. 166025 has a different lug profile and is exclusively a gold watch.

There are no links between 166025 and 14770 neither, for the same reasons.

166025 is NOT an English reference, it is a Swiss made watch.

... and BTW, this is how a Dennison 18k 166.5020 looks like. Note the slight gap between the lugs and the bezel, this is the main difference to the Swiss 166.020.

The crown is also different, with a different crown gasket.
