St. Louis OB here. Overall great experience. Dropped by when they were first announced and got on the list. Got a call a month ago they were getting shipments in soon and if I was still interested. Went by and put down payment. Notified early last week it was in the store. Dropped by Wednesday for pickup. Overall took about a month wait time.

In related news, a car story!
----------
Back in 2014 I really really wanted an F83 BMW M4. They had been announced for US sale and dealerships were taking deposits, orders, etc ... But delivery times were unknown (or faked) and many dealers were charging ADMs. ROLEXERS!

Luckily I had done a previous custom order ("individual") so I had a contact at BMWUSA and asked her what was going on.

She said the new generation production & release process was long, the factory in Regensburg was just ramping up production, it was going to take the full year before the factory reached capacity, and shipments to the US would start in small batches with the first batch of 44 coming in a few months despite what dealers may be promising. Only 44 in the first batch for the whole USA!

With that info, eventually I was able to find a dealer with an allocation (production number!) to one of those 44 cars willing to sell it for MSRP.

BUT, as it came to production time, and time for me to pay, suddenly the price jumped by 10% despite me having it in writing it wouldn't. 馃が

After many calls, another dealer stepped in to save the day, and my order .... but he told me the original dealer salesguy asked him: "why aren't you charging him a huge ADM? These things are rare right now!"

9 months later, you could buy one for a discount at most dealerships nationally because the factory had fully ramped up.

I guess my point is, my OB in Zurich told me to give them 3 weeks notice when I stop by this fall and they'll have a white speedy waiting for me.

Same thing happened a couple of years later with the M2's. When I went in to order one, the dealer I had been working with for over 20 years took my deposit, and the sales associate said he would have an allocation for me in a week or so. Several weeks went by and no word, so I called. He said the allocation was coming in a month or two. Those went by and no word, so I called again. He said "You won't be getting a car this year." He offered me a used one that they had on the lot, for full MSRP, and I declined. That was in February so I told him I would look elsewhere. He said I was foolish to do so, and wouldn't find one because every dealer was in the same situation. I was in the car within 2 months of that conversation...and he didn't work there for much longer after that.

I stopped by my OB a couple days ago and asked to get a call when they had one available. He made it seem like he couldn鈥檛 get me one in about a month. We will see.

Has anyone gotten their Tesla Roadster yet? Despite paying a deposit?
Lol, I'm waiting for Elon to start saying it'll be ready in 12 months for the next 7 years.

On the other hand, there are white Speedmasters readily available in different OBs around the world. Enter, pay and leave with it. No need to be a loyal costumer, or a costumer at all. No reserve, no deposit. As any other normal product in any shop.
Very true. I stopped by the Rome boutique last week while on a trip, and was informed that the only white dial Speedmaster was an exhibition model and there were none in stock for purchase (with the caveat that more inventory could come in any day). I found myself outside the boutique again the next day, and decided to try my luck one more time before catching a flight home the next day. I had a completely different experience when I came in again, and the sales associate almost looked incredulous that I even had to ask whether or not they had a white dial Speedmaster in stock. After a brief, but pleasant, buying experience, I walked out with my new Speedmaster. Maybe I was just lucky, but I got the sense from the sales associate that Omega is trying to keep up with demand and will continue to push out more white dial versions as best they can. Good luck to anyone else on the hunt!

Sorry to hear that, OP. Your wait time certainly seems unusual.

Here's my experience with a NYC Omega boutique despite having no purchase history (my 1863 speedy was through my local AD): I expressed interest a week after the release and was informed that over 120 people had already put their names down. Although they weren鈥檛 taking deposits, I checked in every two weeks or so.

Fast forward to May: I placed a full deposit on May 16th, and it was ready for pickup by May 23rd. My sales associate was amazing throughout the entire process and even gifted me a rubber strap with a deployant clasp.

A little update. I鈥檝e deduced that this issue is the DC Boutique where I bought the watch is not a corporate owned boutique. It is essentially a franchise owned by a large jeweler. Looks, smells and acts like a boutique but privately owned. Stock is going to and available at corporate owned boutiques.

Experiences have been mixed based on the boutique that's for sure. I raised my hand day one (when we first saw DC wearing it), didn't require a deposit and have a purchase history of only a NTTD and a 60th.

I was told it would be a couple months, but I kept reiterating I was ready to buy and when someone ahead of me in the queue passed, I was called and purchased.

I think patience is required for the first year and then wide availability will be there, but it may not be as available as the Seaweed became because this is a more iconic watch.

ALSO let's not forget location matters. I purchase my watches in SoCal and it has a much larger market size than other locations despite having more allocation. They opened a new boutique in northern LA and you most likely could get a white SM much quicker.

Yeah, I'll take Tysons over the Tiny Jewel Box one. The new place rubs me the wrong way.

I鈥檝e had an excellent experience with the DC Boutique. They got me an Ed White when no one else could. I鈥檇 like my White Speedy though. 馃槨

I don't think Omega or even Rolex are trying to create a demand by witholding watches. It just takes some time before they can manufacture enough watches. The very first ones that gray dealers can get are marked up and those don't sell as quickly so you see them available. In a few more months prices will settle down.

I just got the text for my white speedy. It took 11 days from the day I went in to ask for it to today. Much quicker than I anticipated.

Not sure this response was directed at my original post - but - scarcity and inconvenience are two different things. I have an Ed White. It鈥檚 scarce and I waited a long time for it. It was worth it. The White Speedmaster was released in March. I am first on the list at an OB. I paid in full. It鈥檚 almost June. 20+ of them on Chrono 24 - but no ETA for mine. Inconvenient - yes. End of the world - no. It鈥檚 a strange way to handle loyal customers.

Agree and agree.

I'm not crazy about having 20% of the (increasing) cost of an EW321 on hold going on years with the AD, but because whether or not they could make enough each month to meet the demand, they aren't and never have. So I knew the score going in.

With the Speedy white, I was told by that same AD owner that a 50% deposit was required, and they would aim for 2024 -- he also said that while Rolex is Rolex, the rules of the game are fairly set, whereas with Omega these days they have no idea what might happen in terms of allocation, wait times, etc.

I'm not bothering with this one, but in Canada, where there is a single OB, there have been others (SMP white, summer blues, etc) that have been similarly regulated.

Honestly, I can't be arsed.

Is it "regulated" or is it allocations based on production limits, population, & sales volumes (and AD behavior)?

I mean I bet there are a lot people in Greenland who won't be seeing many Speedy Whites local either.

Just my 2 cents, but this product wasn't "released" in June, it was announced with production to follow. It seems many took the announcement to mean, "infinitiy are available in your front yard right now!"

According to my AD, one of the largest in Canada, it has 'limited availability," not production.

Again, I haven't put down a deposit on this now, nor will I -- not in the market for a new Speedy. The AD/ owner I deal with feels that Omega plan on sticking with this regulated /restricted supply model for any high-demand watch it will work with. Along with the usual price rises for those on waiting lists, and all the drama of sporadic, non-committal updates and the glorious receipt of "the call."

I get it, from their perspective -- hype, anticipation, higher ,margins, etc. But it doesn't make me want to join another OmegaQueue.

So buy it from another dealer ? I don't get the drama.

I called my OB, said I wanted one around Oct, he said "no problem, just give me 3 weeks notice"
