Just curious, is there caseback opener tool? Accutrons have a particular locking mechanism and this makes changing batteries a breeze from my understanding.
Need some advise, how do i confirm the case model number that i should be looking out to house a 218 accutron pulsation?
Thank you so much! Now the difficult part begins 馃槈
The only caveat that I looked at after briefly looking over my own data collection is I have seen several of these Doctors Accutron 218's but none of them along with this Bulova Sales Catalog advertisement (below) were anything but 14kt Solid Gold. I am not saying they didn't put these 218 Pulsation dials in the other non-solid gold 218 cases but I have not seen a factory advertisement for any. (to date). Also, I am not aware of those 14kt Solid Gold case numbers. I actually owned one 14kt Gold Accutronb Calendar MD many years ago but the case number eludes me. So there are still a few loose ends to tie up but Bulova data we have don't always explain everything we see. You never showed or mentioned if this watch you are showing was 14kt Gold as you didn't show the outside of the case back. Other than that the 2661 caseback you have does appear to match the case design but I can't say if that dial came with that watch. FYI: In the ABC case/Parts catalog case 2661 shows a movement of 218D and not a 2181. But I have seen a few anomalies even with this catalog so I am just throwing out some head-scratchers. Some Accutron IDs are't as cut and dry as others. If yours is 14kt Gold then you have some extra info......
@kpaxsg I'm not sure if you are watching ebay or not, but this one appears to have the correct case design, just in 18k.

Just got delivered on Sat., was working fine now humming but hands don't move. Shame because it is nearly flawless.
A common problem with the Accutron 218 models and their derivatives! The tuning for hums, the seconds hand moves, the minute and hour hands don鈥檛 move. The minute pinion assembly has rusted to the stationary post that carries the pinion. And sometimes, the minute pinion assembly must be replaced. Full service required.
