Hi all,
Bought this during the Pandemic as I was just getting into collecting. Yes, I jumped straight into the wilds of Chrono24 and vintage watches, it was a fun journey even if I did get suckered on my first few purchases, ha.
Anyway, recently had it serviced by my watchmaker who showed me the reference/caliber/serial number, and got me thinking I should try and find out more about it. I did not take pictures with the case back off unfortunately, but the movement did look "correct". Here is the info, along with pictures and a screenshot of the original listing.
2577-18
Cal. 354
12521781
It was listed as "restored" dial when purchased. From what I can tell the crown is incorrect as well. The hands had no lume when purchase, my watchmaker added the faux lume (personally, I like it).
What I am curious about - is the black dial original, at all? Has it actually been restored/refinished from original, or maybe the original dial color was changed/covered to black? Or, maybe it is completely redialed/franken'd?
I have had trouble coming up with a similarly configured 2577, but I know these were produced in an almost endless variety.
Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them!
No matter what I can find out, I love the watch, I'm a sucker for Breguet numerals and domed crystals...
