from this table I discover that at least the case and movement association might be correct, and also the fact that there's no Seamaster on the dial.
I am not seeing 2577-12 in the chart of the first page.
Got this project out of the drawer since I am working on bumper movements
I have a concern that the lugs are too thin when compared to my 2576 cases. Looks like they may be a bit over polished.
The profile view looks alright to my untrained eye.
Sometimes it feels like the back does not really fit the midcase.
I did get a new case tube and clover crown for this. But these concens caused me to put it aside for a bit.
Over the years I have collected more bumper movements. I have plates with as many as 7 or 8 serial numbers. Four including this one probably fit 351/354. So I was looking at the chart to see which SN might fit best (and not confuse people when I am done with it.)
Have two really similar almost identical dials. One is marked Seamaster, but does not have swiss at the bottom. The other dial has the swiss but no Seamaster. Tasteful repaints do not bother me (since I studied how to do it.) The dials do not show signs of overpainting or furniture removal. The 'plain' dial does suffer from a fingerprint stain at the 3 which shows more in photographs. (this is shown in the bench thread relating to these parts.)
Which dial would be best in the 2577 case? I now have both a 351 and a 354 movement so same question.
I did get the 2635 case which also could take either movement.
the 2577-12 (not shown) back does have a really faint Seamaster engraving (along with the initials of a prior owner/caretaker.)
You’d be 2nd on the list 😀
Also, I’ve meant to post this one. Definitely among the most special 2577s I’ve ever handled. First of all, there’s that dial. It’s a configuration that was unknown to me, and it’s an absolute stunner to my eyes.
And then, there’s the condition. I mean, the case back sticker alone. I wouldn’t call it NOS necessarily, but whenever you read that term from some over-ambitious seller, look at this sticker and the original brushing at the back of the lugs for comparison.
The original strap & buckle are the icing on the cake.
Enjoy:
