Hi all. After some opinions. I have enjoyed reading all the pages on this thread and really do.love the early 50s Seamaster. This is going to be my 1st vintage omega purchase so just want double check all is ok. Below is a 2577-15 gold cap I am looking at. I have not seen any others with just the number 12 and the black square underneath? It has the right circular brushed back and Seamaster script and location. Any views greatly appreciated.
Ah, so you were the lucky one. Congrats, I think the pics looked very promising. Nice case, too, with clear chamfers on the lugs.
Haha yes, thank you, very excited. This listing generated a lot of interest so happy to get it in the end. There are a number of elements that drew me in: the listing with a general antiques seller, the mounting on the old fixoflex, the beautiful dial in marvelous condition, and indeed the sharp lugs and chamfers. All points at a nice ‘as found’ example, fresh to market, which is how I prefer to buy a watch.
Yup, the only (very) minor complaint I’d have is the lume loss in the hour hand, which shouldn’t be a big issue for a competent watchmaker if desired. Really lovely example!
It arrived, and it surpasses all my expectations. Fantastic watch.
Don't mind the text inclarities, this is due to slight scratches on the crystal. The dial itself is mint. I will not polish the crystal it but keep as is.
I have a 1502 BoR with slide-clasp on the way for it.
and it will enhance your enjoyment of the watch
