Should I upgrade/downsize my Aqua Terra?

Thanks! So you're saying that if I come across a 36mm that works, I should reconsider? 馃槜

Well, it's your money we're spending, not mine! LOL! But, given the choice between the two, I personally would opt for the 36. However, the current watch does look fine on your wrist, so I wouldn't shell out too much money to go down in size. If you were wearing a 41 or 42 mm watch, then I would definitely downsize.

They both work and do what you like the best but I totally know the feeling of going back and forth. FWIW - If I had to make the call, I'd keep the original 39 due to the fact it is probably more cost effective and, most importantly, it has more personal history.

Yeah -- the personal history is what is compelling me most to keep it. Cost wise, I think between getting a 36 and selling the 39, I'd break even or even save a bit.

Have you ever tired your 39mm AT on a strap? I owned the 2502 version (42.4mm) in black, silver, and blue and sold them all years ago to fund another piece. I saw one of them on my buddies wrist this past weekend and was kicking myself for letting it go.

I used to wear that particular watch (black dial) on an OEM strap and deployant all the time and loved it. It makes the watch feel like it wears slightly smaller (as I feel that's the case with most watches when you from bracelet to strap).

I love a big watch (I have 5 Pos in the 45.5mm case size which fit my 7.75" wrist very well) but I've slowly been moving back to a smaller watch.

Do yourself a favour and try your watch on a nice leather band (the matte blue gator that comes on the new speedy moonphase would look unreal). I think you'll find that it makes it wear quite a bit smaller and will immediately make it feel like a totally different watch!

I'm finding I like a 36 better on my wrist as well. Like you, my first Omega was a 39mm Aqua Terra. Along with that I've got a Speedy and a 300smpc. I also picked up a Tudor Black Bay 36. It gets the most wrist time. The Aqua Terra was pushing it and the other two are just too big on my 6.5" wrist. I suspect they will go away in a few months as I find smaller watches to replace them.

I think both watches look good on your wrist. However, I personally prefer the look/proportions of the 36mm dial. The 39mm has too much blank space for my taste.

I did briefly, using a generic 20mm brown vintage strap. I found that it didn't make a huge difference in terms of the "feel" of the watch, but it might warrant another try -- it could have just been the style of the strap. At the same time, though, I do love the look of the AT on the bracelet!

And that bracelet is so nice and thin. That was the first thing I noticed when my girlfriend got a newer master-coaxial 41.5mm AT (she wanted a "big watch").

That's a pretty hefty AT. I found my 42.4mm 2502 wore quite a bit smaller (simply because of the case thickness and bracelet). I loved it on a strap but I agree that bracelet is great.

I bet you'd really like yours on a proper OEM strap and deployant though. I do that all the time with my Speedy and PO's and it makes it feel like a new watch every time I switch back and forth.
