Should I return this new watch or not?

I was seeking advice from experienced watch buyers as to whether my paint fleck was a danger to the workings of the watch and if I should return or not. There have been some genuine advice and some good things to think about. I have also had my question called "totally absurd" and "totally hilarious" and that I should just buy a GShock. Not very helpful and id like to remind some people here that everyones journey in watches started somewhere and not all of us are in the know about what to expect when buying an expensive (to me) watch./QUOTE]

Don't be dissuaded from coming back, and ignore the snark. We just went through this bullshit a little while ago, where some members jumped all over a newb for asking a question that they would never ask, but only after having been hanging around here forever. This is nothing more than high school nonsense, where its cool to be condescending and trott out WUS. Just glean the intelligent replies, discard the rest, and then do exactly what makes you happy. And welcome to the forum, good to have you.

Hey @FerrisBM - I didn't read that as an attack... more a thought that if you are seeking perfection in build quality (not saying that you are!), then an Apple watch would likely get you closer to it.

I for one am glad you're happy and keeping your moonwatch - I've had mine (from new) for 16 years, and enjoyed wearing it a lot.

Welcome to the madness. 😉
Ok fair enough. It was just the same person who told me to get a G shock earlier in the thread so assumed the worse. My apologies if I'm wrong.

As I said in my first post in this thread, it's tough coming into this hobby, and relying on the information/marketing that's thrown at you by the brands.

Expecting perfection when that's what you've been told you're getting isn't nuts.

And whilst us jaded old nerds know that the brands are not exactly providing what they're selling, how are you as a new buyer to know?

For what it's worth, there's nothing wrong with having a g-shock or two to go with that Speedmaster. 😀

I sadly had only 1 Seiko, it was a Sport Divers model on an Olongapo bracelet, which was lost in a theft. Purchased by my father during my parent's honeymoon in 1970, so the sentimental value was incredible. The lost still stings.

BUT, I am getting one of these, a commemorative SKX007 from my alma mater!

Check out the art on the dial:

Dude take a deep breath and relax. Just take it back and respectfully ask for an exchange.

I don't understand how this has run to three pages.

You've paid for a 'luxury' Swiss watch and found it has an issue (or two have had issues). Surely you take it back to the dealer and ask how they propose to resolve it either as a QA issue or a customer service issue.

If they decline they've presumably lost a customer.

That's it.

Wasn't this kind of thing sort of covered with a guy who got a watch for his daddy in law? There was an issue and now the sky is falling and what should I do the worlds going to end? Take it back. It's ok.

Have fun

People are much more friendly about this in the Rolex Forums. I see new watch scratch threads all the time there and the responses are very supportive.

Difference of expectations when you spend 2-3x more for basically the same watch.

A stainless steel Rolex (if you can get one) isn’t 2-3x more, maybe 2-3k more

Sub vs SMP? 3,200 vs 7,500 msrp O really? Hell the PO aligns with the Seadweller and is still cheaper then a Sub.

DJ over 9k right now vs AT under 5k...

.... May be it is a small missprint of the dial, if you can't get happy with this, bring it back to the OMEGA AD and try to change it .. It's a new watch and should be flawless!
