Last diversion or "hijack" before people get bored, it actually ties in with the art comparison earlier.

I seldom need another means of telling time.

I wear a watch as a participation in my interests, my hobby, my art.
The watches I wear take up some of my attention and my focus.
When I decide to wear a watch it is like going to an event and doesn't always work if I have other plans.

If it's not something special, why bother?

Bad answer but truthful.
For sure we don't really need watches to tell the time any longer 😀
And now back to Seikos...

My 6309-7049...kickin' ass since 1987...my first "pilot watch"...purchased new at the NAS Whiting Field NEX for $140. 👍

Notes: I'm having a bad hair day [night] so I intentionally cropped my bad hair out of the first pic. Also, the date is noticeably misaligned in the second and third pics due to the changeover to the next day.

I love seikos also especially the vitage grande or king seikos.
Great brand and you kept all the reciept for it!!👍👍

Vintage Grand Seiko was my first nice mechanical watch. It is fantastic. The high beat sounds amazing. I doubt I will ever sell. It showed me that vintage watches are where it's at.

I also have a Pogue. The history of these watches are great and I love the color. I just wish it had a second hand.

I have several more, for now the only other one I'll mention is the modern Grand Seiko Snowflake. Titanium. It's really a fantastic and lite. However, it's not really my style, so I'll probably end up selling it.

Nice one Jsaen! I have the same 6146-8000 with cross hairs. The hi-beat movement is indeed fantastic, still keeping excellent time after 45 years👍

Traded a Connie for this last year
Nice one Peatnick! Here is my 1972 GS with the same 6146 movement but a different reference. Absolutely love the design and robustness of vintage GS's!

So a young guy at work brought this in to show me, he’d found it in his dad’s drawer although never remembered him wearing it………..it’s a non runner it seems.

Of course it might just need a damn good service but if the problem goes deeper than that does anyone know how easy it is to get parts for these now?

I like these watches Spike.

There are a few places on the net that you can get the odd new spare and second hand donor movement. Remember you cannot wind this watch manually, it is auto-wind only. You will at least need a new crown as the one on the watch is not original. The original should be virtually flush with the case and is used for setting the time when pulled out, setting the day and date by pressing in, and rotating the inner bezel when in the normal position.

I hooked this while trolling the "Bay of Fears". My first mechanical alarm watch.
