Congrats on the pickup - at this price point its always better to spend a bit more and get something complete than consigning it to service and having to source the right parts.

As we're all posting our world times, here's my C shape black dial. This was my go-to travel watch, but have not put it on for 18 months now...

Lovely, these are fun watches. The orange just pops! Sadly I dropped mine recently and cracked the crystal. My watchmaker, who happens to be a friend and coworker, will fix it. I understand about not wearing a watch, moods change, new additions, etc.

Uh bad luck - I also dropped a Seiko this week while rushing to get ready first thing in the morning. Never a good start to the day! Luckily all crystals still available for us both.

I actually meant I hadn't worn it as I hadn't travelled at all in the last year - I've been on GMT for 18 months so no need for the complication!

This is one of the originals I just picked up. You'll notice a few differences.

I have this exact watch. Black GMT hand and the same crown. I do not have the original bracelet though. A family friend brought it back from Vietnam during the war. I've been wearing it since 7TH grade. Been serviced twice, and had the glass replaced. My friend died several years ago, the watch is on my never sell list.

A project for me. Dial is in good order and the case unpolished but the movement has been cannibalised. I have been told that some parts from watches with this 6117 movement are interchangeable with other 61xx movements so I am hoping it might not be too challenging to get it running.

6119 movements are cheap and should give you plenty of common parts.

Thank-you. This is what I was hoping and I have already bid for and won a cheap donor watch with the 6119.

This thread kinda hurts

Hopefully it will still turn up! Maybe it just needed more time to visit other parts of the world before settling down with you.

Running once more. A true barn find. Left in a draw for over 25 years and now ticking away and keeping good time.

They do indeed look great. Not easy to tell the time at a glance though. There is a lot going on.

Nice! Hence London and GMT both appearing on the world time inner bezel?

If this was from the last 2-3 weeks I think I have been bidding against you 😜. I think I got busy at work and forgot to keep bidding on it.

no this was from about 2 years ago when I got it.

this article explains the British Standard time experiment in 1968 when they moved the clocks to British Summer Time for 3 years to try to reduce traffic accidents. It apparently worked, but they went back to the standard time in 1971 I believe. Seiko kept up with the story and made the GMT watches accordingly, separating London from GMT time on what was called "Error Bezel", but actually it was not an error due to the change in time policy from 1968-1971.

If you already know about this I apologize but its an interesting story IMO particularly if you have one of these watches from that period!!
