Can't wait to see a review of these. Recently thinking I wanted to add a 143 to the collection.

I think the Hodinkee review isn't too bad: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/t...-and-with-a-new-movement-spb453-spb451-and-sp

Would like to see some hands on pics though. Personally, I don't mind the little date window at 4.5, but I can imagine that many people would prefer to just not have it if it's going be so small and in an odd place.

Considering adding a used SPB143 since they can be had for $700 or so but now I'm considering a new SPB453. I like that it's a little thinner and the bracelet looks like an improvement. Is the 6R55 movement more accurate than the 6R35?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 6R55 is slightly thinner and has a larger power reserve (but only 72 vs. 70 hours), but I don't think it's more accurate? My experience with these movements has been that if you get lucky or they are regulated, they can be pretty good, but they both are still rated at -15/+25 per day.

So, I think it's splitting hairs. At this price point... I'm just going to be ok with having to reset the time on the watch every few days.

I have just bought a new SPB143 from Japan for just over $700. I can't wait for it to arrive. The grey dial was the decision maker for me. I've been faffing around for 4 years and finally did something about it.

Waiting for a new Tuna release. Still biting myself for not getting an SBBN04x before they got discontinued. NOS have risen substantially now.

I like the SLA017 a lot, but the price, whew! That SPB153 looks very nice and $700 isn't terrible. I really like the grey dial.

I’m think the power reserve has its place but I noticed on some seiko related forums it created quite a division in appeal. I have been in “love” with the work seiko does on its GS dials since they came out. I like the unique dials. One reason I picked the railmaster with the textured dial. Although not seiko related
I do love that Railmaster.... now, back to the Seikos!

I'm getting more interested in the Navigator reissue, but there don't seem to be many discounts available yet.

Just seems like a watch I could travel with for a long time - good proportions, can independently set the GMT hand, don't have to worry about taking it swimming, can use the bezel to time everyday tasks, etc.

Every time I mention Seiko, my wife asks when they will actually produce this one-off prototype. Anyone know who to talk to at Seiko HQ? 😒

I wish I liked that day date configuration more, but I really don't. Puts so many Seikos in the "admire but don't want" category. Probably a good thing for the wallet...

OMG OMG OMG, they're releasing the Kamen Rider!!!

I don't think I have any choice to say no to this. The rest of my Kamen Riders will feel lonely.

What's the expected retail $ on these?

Also, wearing a new Seiko yesterday:

I think around $400.

That's a nice one! I have the blacked out 62mas reissue version and like it quite a lot.

My Kamen Rider reissue has arrived! They even included a leather rally so I can cosplay as Kamen Rider Hongo.

Edit: I like it on a nato!

Got an email from Seiko AUS.
Open for pre-order, delivery in August.
Solar, 41.4mm dia, 13mm thick.
Tempting.

It's cool, though it also makes me just want a pogue reissue. But I'm sure they'll chart $4K+ for that 😒.

I keep thinking about picking up a solar speed timer in general, but I wish they'd make a new quartz solar movement with a 12-hour chrono subdial instead of the useless (IMO) 24-hour dial.
