Nothing like the vintage Bruce Lee just a seiko 5 but I think it looks kinda cool. “Limited edition” of fifteen thousand ( I don’t find that to be very limited but whatever)

The Navigator reissue is out. ~$1200

I was so, so, so excited by this, until I got to the price. Way to go Seiko, re-release it for the same price an excellent condition vintage one goes for. 🙁

I was holding my breath reading the article about it, until I got to the end when my hopes and dreams were crushed.

Same. My AD gave me a sneak peak in the summer and I was very excited until they mentioned the msrp.

But, sometimes with Seiko you can get a good discount if you just wait a few months. I snagged a new SPB313 for about 40% off earlier this year.

I do not think the Navigator Timer will be cheap soon, this is a piece like the 62MAS reissue, and the lack of prospex on the watch is a huge selling point.

As an owner of the original I can attest that these are excellent travel watches, I have mine on tan ostrich and it is a great casual stunner. If you need to dress it up a spare black leather band then it works in a pinch. The ability to tell the 2nd time zone is a must when I travel for my own sanity lol.

If I did not own a great original I would be buying this re-issue in a heartbeat.

I'm new to the world of Seiko and when I saw this hit yesterday it quickly became a must have. It's a real stunner to my eye.

I think @Foo2rama is spot on. Once in my hands a great contrasting strap will really make this a real looker.

So my 55th arrived today. On first wear it's a very nicely managed reissue, with good attention to detail and a good bezel action. Fun watch with a winning combo of retro and functional.

Here it is with its older (and larger) Seiko brother. The 047 has been all over the place and in some pretty ratty conditions, underwater and above, and is still in great shape and one of my faves.

New marinemasters! It's like a marinemasters and a 62mas had a baby? What do y'all think? I kinda like them, but it's an odd hybrid of sorts.

That watch looks like the offspring of a Seamaster AT and a Submariner.

Well that is certainly interesting. I like it but at the same time don't. I want to like it more but there are elements that are preventing that from happening... like that bezel. I find it unattractive and its design just makes it look like it would be increasingly frustrating to rotate. Especially in wet/slippery conditions. Of the three, I like the black dial, which I feel is the safe option. I prefer the date window on the black dial version most as it seems less obtrusive and honestly, I didn't even notice it at first. It's about time they brought "Marinemaster" back to the dial. It would be nice if they dropped the X from the dial and relegated it to just the crown... but alas, that is unlikely to happen.

I really like the 62mas, a lot. It's on my list. I find this new piece interesting and I want to like it more, but honestly, it's just making me want the 62mas even more.

Yeah, I think I agree. If I saw it in isolation, without awareness of brand history, I think I'd like it. But it does feel like sort of an amalgamation of different design elements from other watches. Also, the price is a bit much for me - hard to justify this vs a Black Bay or a used Seamaster.

I think it’s worth it.
These are almost direct copies of the original and the original is one of my favorite pieces to wear and travel with.

I was wondering because $1200.00 is way below what I saw them going for? Best I’ve seen is CAD $2150.00 or so. Or about USD $1600.00

Good catch. Maybe I saw a price in pounds and mistakenly thought it was in dollars.

Interesting and quite beautiful piece. I’m sure the watch is worth it but they have creeped up in price to a level that is out of reach for those with more modest means.

We'll see what happens, but I have found that the prospex releases can often purchased gently used a few months after release, often for ~30% discount. That might make it more palatable.

I prefer the crown at 3 o’clock. But Seiko fans might disagree with the hybridization of the design. From a purely aesthetic point of view, it has some kind of mojo! The only negative for me, is the date window. Would have been fantastic without the date.
