Seeking Help!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! It has been a long time since I have visited the Vintage Omega section here at Omega Forums!

My first real experience with a vintage omega was through an heirloom Constellation I posted about a few years ago.

Since then, I've been exploring Grand Seiko, and my daily watch is now a GS SBGR 315.

I love this watch, but at times it feels just a little austere, and I have found myself hankering after something with a "softer" design and feel. This has brought me back to vintage Omegas: there is something about the design that feels a bit warmer in character, friendlier in presence. I'm not sure how to put it in words!

In a nutshell, I would like to learn more about vintage Seamasters in particular, and to get hold of one that I can wear! 😀

And this is where I would be so grateful for your help. I have been reading and researching on the Omega Forums and elsewhere, and I am quickly learning how much there is to know! A lot!

Based on what I have learned so far, I am especially interested in a stainless steel Seamaster with a silver or creamy dial. In my research so far, I've zeroed in on these models especially:
- 166.010
- 168.024 (some great pics in this thread)
I just love the design of these watches: so perfect!

But I don't know where to even begin to find one or something like it--or, maybe more important, what to look for to make sure it is a fair/safe purchase.

The other question I have concerns my Constellation. It's running a few minutes slow every day: I'd like to get it serviced by a trusted watchmaker. Any recommendations you can offer would be terrific.

Thanks so much for your help! I look forward to digging deeper into this world. 😀

Chris
