Sedena Gold/Canopus v 50th anniversary moonshine gold

I may be in the minority but I love the aesthetics of the new Sedna gold Speedmaster. The 50th Moonshine model is a cracking watch, but the combination of yellow gold, red bezel, and onyx markers doesn't sing to me the way the black/rose combination does on the Sedna gold model. Even though I generally like more vintage inspired designs the contemporary style of the Sedna gold is more pleasing in my opinion. I wonder what prices will do on the secondary market for these new precious metal models?

I thought at the time of release the price asked for the gold 50th was very good indeed, considering the quality of finishing and materials used.

I have no doubt that watch will maintain its value and continue to climb at certain points like it has been doing.

The new speedy I think will attract a pretty decent discount once in regular circulation. I do prefer the 50th in terms of looks but thew new one, just like the SS look really great with this iteration.

In summary I actually think the prices between these two models should be reversed. The 50th should be 29.8k GBP and the new gold speedy should be 26k - I think you may see these gold speeds trade closer to 20k once we are a year or 2 in. The 50th will be north of 30k

I think the Sedna looks a tad more modern. The moonshine reminds me more of a watch that my grandfather may have worn. The red bezel is of course very special.
I really like the, IMHO, traditional look of the moonshine, but heck, the Sedna is very, very appealing.
If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the Sedna.
I don't want to go into tech specs as these are similar to some point nor (hold of) value, as I don't have that on my checklist when buying a timepiece (unless its price is sky high and by obvious reasons is set to take a heavy dive short term).

Not so sure about that, as these models are Omega Boutique only. And I guess that is exactly the reason why the made them OB only.
But agree, that 2nd hand models will certainly not trade above RRP.

Ah, OB only? On one hand I understand that you want to make something exclusive and give a customer full Omega experience but not everyone has an OB around the corner, and not everyone is willing to travel. Even more so in these times where traveling is barely possible nor recommended. Seems a bit of a weird move at this very moment as this will, IMHO, enhance the grey market instead of keeping it at bay (sth Omega CEO stated with the production of the current Snoopy).

Yes apparently OB only. Still - as long as you keep them easily available through the OB (which I think should be the case with the PM models, contrary to the Snoopy III for example) it will kill two birds with one stone for them:
- No Grey dealers offering the watch at ~20% discount --> stable prices for Omega
- No trading ("flipping") above Retail Price as you can always go to an OB / order online from Omega --> no grey market

It will be interesting how many customers will go for the PM models, also as the price difference to the entry level model is just insane (factor 6 for the Canopus model?).

Comparing to the Daytona WG on bracelet (CHF 37.5k - factor 3 to the steel model at RP) it seems a bit like testing the waters to me... No matter of how crazy the alloy is in terms of palladium contents 😉

I’m not so certain that people willing and able to drop 30~50k on a watch will find this a problem. They will most likely get a special 1:1 appointment with minimal ‘risk’.

Probably. But still doesn't cover travel issues, restrictions etc. But yes, if you want one, you’ll probably do what's necessary to purchase it.
