The coffin markers at 12 are often a little skewed. That wouldn't bother me at all since I've seen more that are slightly misaligned than perfectly straight.
the hands really are tarnished, starting to pit maybe. Could that be explained by different metal types versus the markers?
Not coming around, always there. Hands might be pitted, or could be dirt and/or lighting. Anything is possible. Glad someone else will be buying. gatorcpa
I don't like the fact that the two-tone division on the dial finish starts further out than the minute markers. This is most unusual in an Omega dial, surely?
Just use a strange word that normally wouldn't be part of a WIS discussion, e.g. Dromader, or perinium. Dennis uses "ekleziatikl". I've been peppering many threads with that exact word for ages (jokin') Just don't use something obvious like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Ahhhh.........add a post with our keyword, then search........BAMMMM all will come out at once. Clever. I'll use Indonesian word for to keep (disimpan)
Very true....... I haven't recovered from mine, infected by all those damn near NOS watches. Somebody should warn me when I joined this forum.... or at least offered somekind of vaccine. I heard many MDs around here....
You hit the nail - this is the give away for this dial - I thought about the same! The second issue which caused me stop bidding: the circular graining of the inner part of the dial. This circular graining is seen on late 60ies and 70ies Omegas - I never saw them on 50ies or early 60ies examples... they have vertical linear graining. The third issue: this auction was obviously "spoiled" by some of the members here by posting their "estimations" and "valuations" publicly - I think there is the option of PMs and this should be used if somebody wants to give his comments on value... I am confident that sellers are lurking on forums like this and they are happy to gather this valuable information (pun intended) to start shill-bidding afterwards... Watch this auction and make up your mind yourself... watch the "bidding war" between the 2 current changing high bidders... IMHO discussing value publicly on the forum is a "no go" - this should be done via PM only Discussing it publicly does not bring any benefit to the forum members, only for the prospective shill bidders. Just my 2 cents
It's certainly OK to put in your 2 cents, but now I'm going to make it 4. Shill bidding happens everywhere, from AQ and OmegaMania to the crappiest eBay items. Nothing we say here is going to change that. Nothing we say is going to stop it either. Like death and taxes, it exists. By discussing our opinions of value, we are trying to save people from paying too much for an item. Sometimes, feelings are going to be hurt and egos bruised. That's life. If shillers read this and place phony bids, then we should be noticing this activity and reporting publically about it on this forum too. I don't want this place to become over moderated like a lot of the other forums. It's different here, and I'd like to keep it that way. It's up to you if you wish to make your thoughts known in a public forum or not. I don't think it's up to us to censor the content here just to make it more difficult for potential evil-doers. Better to have a positive attitude and educated watch buyers, who'll then know how to spot such shenanigans when they happen. Like Sy Syms used to say..."An educated consumer is our best customer". gatorcpa
I was originally pissed because my snipe prospect was now being advertised. But look what happened. The more WE discussed the watch, the more perspectives we got, and now I don't even want the damn thing at any price. Sorta like that NOS Seamaster with the texture dial the girl had for auction on ebay last year. I think the discussion was healthy. I'm always a bit upset when a watch I'm interested in comes up for discussion. But there are plenty that aren't so NBD. There are lots of fakes out there. And some very talented fakers. I saw them when I was collecting Rolex for a few years. And in vintage Corvettes, etc. The fakes and put together watches will only get better.

I don't have a problem with that kind of $ if it's a genuine Omega service dial. BUT... I would kill to be able to loupe the "SWISS MADE" to be even semi-certain of that. Probably has to to go under the heading of "not comfortable bidding with only these images to go by." Best, T.
It's under a half hour left, and for the last 35 or 40 minutes the price has been sitting at $1260. Let the games begin! EDIT: it just dawned on me that if you wanted to combine most of the best features of Omega that a vintage collector would want, this watch has it all except a black dial. BoR bracelet, coffin markers, dipping "r", large hippocampus logo case back…. seems too good to be true the more I think about it.
A zero feedback buyer jumps in at the last second and "wins" with a $1315 bid? I CALL SHENANIGANS!!!!!
