DIBS! I mean, I am interested to buy this SM... Is there anybody here among the members who is going to bid against me?
LOL, I think there might be a couple! I was looking for a decent SS to wear more as a clunker, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a Franken one!
No need for you to take that on. When the seller sees this thread, he will understand exactly what level to shill to.
Ok, let's see if we can knock the price down a little just for laughs. Steve has 2 2846, both have 3 humps in the m in Seamaster.(one has the pearl minute marks) and the "r" doesn't dip below baseline. So do these 2846: So is this a service dial in an NOS case? .
What concerns me is not the dipping "r" - that was normal on 50's Seamasters. The alignment of SWISS MADE is a problem in my eyes. The space between the words is dead on the 6:00 marker. Usually, the space is pushed a little to the 5:00 side because Omega aligned the whole phrase to the bottom of the dial, not the two separate words to the bottom marker. That is going to keep me from bidding. It may turn out to be trivial, but I've NEVER seen a dial that I know to be original have that issue.
Yes the dial is attractive, but both of these issues are troubling The coffin is a late 2648 with hippocampus. Are any of these others? My two are early smooth backs. I find the Swiss Made problematic in either event.
Seller says bottom one is 1961 but doesn't show caseback. http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/chuukotokei/item/k1312/?s-id=borderless_recommend_item_en
2846-10 doesn't show Swiss Made but you can see what "r" and "m" are like. Has Large medallion caseback Watch out for the turd in the punch bowl. http://uhrforum.de/vintage-omega-seamaster-ref-2846-10-sc-t93669
Youse guys are picking too many nits. Compare the dial with the Seamaster XVI dial that Scotty posted above. The Seamaster logo is the same and so is the positioning of Swiss Made. Those are acceptable variations of Seamaster dials, particularly those with coffin markers. So while I believe that the dial is an Omega product, more information is required to determine if this Omega dial left the factory attached to this watch. gatorcpa
Check the "m" and "r" Can't make out the Swiss alignment http://omega.watchprosite.com/?page...5551&fi=677&pi=2817506&ti=469776&s=0&size=raw
But he will be sad after he reads my post. ================================ Gentlemen. That Seamaster font is good. Have a look at this and compare and that dial doesn't look like a service dial to me.
Hi Hoi I don't think anyone is saying dial isn't Omega. Is your pic a 2846 dial? Apples to apples? This one is-
Are you sure that the watch case is Ref 2846? I'm not. That's why I've been saying that I need more information. gatorcpa
