·Thought I would share some pictures of this watch, as there are very few images from owners that I've seen so far, and I don't think that almost any of the images I have seen online do it justice or show how dynamic and cryptic the dial can be. Color ranges from Silvery-gray blue to deep sapphire and a lot of colors in between depending upon light conditions and angle.
Whatever lighting the OB uses; probably a cool LED
Warm LED, probably near 3k.
Natural light (fading)
Natural light, sun setting
Fluorescent box-store lighting at various brightnesses. The deep blue under low levels of fluorescent light surprised me.
Natural light
Full sun
Warm to Yellow light, LED (also, pictured on this old T-shirt because I couldn't help but notice that the dial is reminescent of the Starship Enterprise A's deflector dish!)
I will say, the images online that show these dials to almost "glow" at the center are fairly honest. even a small amount of light makes this thing look like it has an inner light.
I got really lucky with this watch.
I called the OB in Bellevue, WA the other day to see if they had the heritage 75th. Unfortunately they didn't but they DID have the PO, AT, and 300M. They said that they hadn't seen one of the heritage models in weeks and had no idea when Omega was going to ship them another one, and had only received one so far.
I decided what the heck, I'll go look at the other members of the 75th they have to see what I think of the blue, and drove up there today from Vancouver, WA (2.5hr drive). When I got there they had actually gotten one in but had a customer who had already previously reserved it, but hadn't gotten back to them about picking it up. They were willing to let me take a look at it and try it on, and I loved it.
The SA couldn't reach the customer and wasn't willing (for obvious reasons) to sell me the watch. So, my wife and I took the kids to lunch, and then went back to put my name on whatever waiting list the OB had.
When I got back, the SA HAD reached the customer, who was out of state and would be for the remainder of the month and was willing to relinquish their spot. It wasn't a hard decision to make.
From puttering around the watch forums it doesn't seem like many heritages have been sold through OBs yet, but I have no idea how many have made it to US Boutiques.
All of my dealings with the Bellevue OB have been spectacular, and this was no exception. My children were immediately offered water and apple juice and I had a great conversation with Joshua about both the 75th anniversary line of watches and a number of speedies. My sales associate, Yebin, was incredibly polite and knowledgeable and had the bracelet sized properly in no time. I really like this OB and am super happy with how my experience went.
