Seamaster Chrono Dial question 176.007

I have been reading many of the forum articles on the Seamaster Chrono 176.007 and the many dial variations.

My question is regarding the silver faced dials in these two watches.

From what I understand the 176.007 date was open sided and closed on 3, whereas as these are all closed on all sides, also the numbered indices which are seen on these watches I thought were only found on the 176.010 and 176.005.

My long winded question is are these watches then Franken (176.005 dial in a 176.007 case) or did the 176.007 come in this variation? I have not seen many white on silver 007s.

That dial is a correct but less common option for the 176.007.

You’re welcome. 😀

I’ve been working on an article for my site on the topic of 176.007 dials, but I’ve been busy and haven’t gotten around to building the graphs. It probably won’t be up until July... But the dial you reference is discussed. I used to think it might have been a service replacement or mod, but the data shows these in very specific SN ranges so I’m now convinced they were shipped that way.
