I've read that as well! I guess the question is how far back would omega pull parts from to assemble a watch? 64 case, with potentially a dial from 67? Hopefully an extract will clarify?

I'm not an Omega Extract Expert by any means but I'm not sure if they are dial specific. An any event, even if the dial was changed, it was obviously done long ago and I wouldn't worry about it. If it bugs you......sell it to me. 馃榾

Good luck.

Thanks Gemini4, I was sad I missed out on the last one you snagged off here a month or so ago, but I think I'll be quiet happy with this one! Happy Holidays

Question - why is the big triangle / sword hands combo the most desirable (AFAIK)? I have the non-big triangle / baton hands (currently undergoing maintenance). Is it just that the big triangle looks better?

Very nice my friend. I'll bet the forum didn't know that Steve Young was a member.

I would guess it's because it evolved from the military seamaster divers. Big Tri is easier to see under water. Has been used ever since in later Seamaster 300s

The big triangles are a lot rarer, and also there is no superluminova service version of it. The similarity to the military version doesn't hurt either.

That would be the QB that threw an 80 yard TD to Jerry Rice on the first play of the game ::psy::

If big triangles are a lot rarer, why is it that the the big triangle / sword hands are the most common pics of the SM300 I see online? I actually thought mine was fake at first because it had baton hands and the non-tri dial.

hi everyone

My take on the second generation Seamaster 3oo s

Typical early examples of civilian big triangle no dates had NIAID non screws own crowns ... And bezel with the 10 having serif ...

But from original MoD mil spec docs the military SM 3oo all were issued with screw down crowns and San serif 10 bezels .... I have seen examples wth SERIF bezels i was not able to get confirmation that they left the QM ( quatermaster) that way...

Good hunting

Bill Sohne

Ps I don't own a sm 3oo mil anymore , quite sad . Only SM 3oo I have left is a 2913

Auction houses do not always have very good experts. I recently put an auction on an Atmos. It was said to be from the 60's. I won the auction. Having a closer look at the clock, the serial numbers were not matching, It was actually from the mid 50's. For personnal reasons I wanted one of the 60's. I had to cancel the auction. They tried to 'intimidate" me saying I had to pay for the winning bid. I refused. They finally admitted that they were wrong. The annoying thing is that they mentionned this cancelling as a favor despite the fact that they were completly wrong.

If [Atmos] is switched to another watch / clock I wonder how many have had a similar experience with auction houses 馃槜

I don't know. Google algorithms? All I know is that for every 30 Seamaster 300s I see for sale, one might be a big triangle.
