🙄 Anyone who would publicly post offers made by PM is probably making them up.

Is the case and movement serial plate worth $8,500? Serious question.

Come on, Dave, that dial is sick!

Wasn’t made here at all. I’m in a few watch groups on WhatsApp as well as other platforms, posted my find and got a bunch of texts instantly

At that level I’d bite his hand off !
I honestly love this too much. I’m already very attached to the watch and the project itself. Not even sure how serious the person is. But knowing them, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was a legit offer

It’s a bit hard to pin down values as there haven’t been so many private sales recently, but my gut feeling was mine would be perhaps be in that sort of range, and apart from having no insert, it’s a clean “one previous owner” example. If it is a genuine offer, it would be pretty crazy not to even consider it.

The fella who shot the number is legit, I thought about it for a few minutes, as I was outside (wearing the watch). When I needed to check the time, instinctively I looked at my wrist (usually I use a working watch lol), and I felt so happy that I instantly texted back “no thank you”

The guy who offered $8,500 must have a spare dial for it
Still wouldn’t make sense IMO. Perhaps it would if it was just the dial, but the prospect is for a finished watch with an almost entirely replaced movement, relumed hands, an incorrect crown, and either no insert or a replacement insert. It makes more sense if he’s just crazy about the story and the current look.

You really think so high ? I had a strong feeling that prices on these had dropped although that’s not really based on many sales. I’m sure I’ve seen project ones go for under $4-5k. I’m not trying to talk the market down as I’ve got one !

I also find it a long stretch to believe that someone would offer $8.5k for the OP's watch. Even if they had an extremely good spare dial ($3-5k?) lying around and assuming the rest can be fixed easily with a donor movement and taking into account they would also need a restored bezel insert....at the end of it all they'd probably only be break even or actually perhaps a little under water....so who'd do that?

My little clan 😀

So... are you saying the OP lies about getting an offer or? And as he/she does not seem to be willing to part with it - why imply it?

Those are lovely! The gentleman who made me that offer has always been quite impulsive in his purchases, not really always looking values up before purchasing and sometimes overpaying. That’s another reason I didn’t feel right closing a deal as I don’t know the values for this very well myself
