Well what a find, regardless of its condition! As an appreciator of "patina", I'm excited to see how well it can be cleaned up.

I don’t think I want to touch the dial except actual debris that can be cleansed. It looks so cool! I’m very very happy

Yeah the crystal obscures a lot of the dial so I am interested to see what it would look like!

UPDATE

I have found and purchased a fully working 501, period correct movement, should received it in the next few days. Going straight to the watchmaker afterwards! ::psy::

Some people take this too seriously. I'd love to find something like this with a story and have it as an interesting conversation piece. It has a post apocalyptic vibe that makes it unique and it certainly has a lot of character. Let's see how it cleans up and hope it doesn't turn ugly.
I'd happily spend 500 USD to make this functional though.
Thanks to the OP for sharing this. The local dumpster diver community approves of his message! 😉

I absolutely love it! Gotten some stupid high offers for it, but not even dreaming of parting with it. Today, I found and purchased a fully working period correct 501 movement for the watch!

So you swapping the movement, swapping the movement but keeping the bridge or using the movement for spares/parts as needed?

I’m genuinely interested in how the market would value something like this, so if you’d be willing to share the approximate level of offers you’ve had it’d be really interesting. I’ve got a very tidy 2913-3 and my feeling is the demand for these has cooled much like the speedy market.

How would you verify?

🙄 Anyone who would publicly post offers made by PM is probably making them up.

Swapping everything in the movement that needs swapping but keeping the bridge with serial etc so I can get an extract. Keeping dial / hands, not polishing

Great, but what about the dial or bezel?

A bit under 8.5k USD from a fella in the States who loves these watches, but I’m certainly not selling mine. I’d love to see yours! Regards
