Happy new year all,

I just inherited what I think is a SC 2849, based on an old for sale post that has an identical photo and am hoping someone can help answer a couple of questions:

Is there any significance to the -4? As in was there a -1, -2, etc? If so, what were the differences?
Is the 503 movement standard?

I've seen a few similar versions around the same year with the 355. I know it was purchased in 1957, and if its manufacturer date is, say 1955-57 I would think it a 503. I won't be able to get the back off for a while to check for sure, and am thinking of just sending it for repair before I do (it won't run at all now), and if I can be sure of the movement it will help me locate a proper watchsmith.

The number after the reference number is simply the iteration of the reference which usually has no major significance.

The caliber 503 is correct for this reference.

The 355 is a date at 6 o'clock movement, if you found a 2849 with a 355 it didn't leave the factory that way.

Thanks. My confusion on the 355. Looking again all those were as you indicate, with date at 6.

Hi,
here is my 2849 Seamaster Calendar.
Omega 503 is correct.

And here is my old thread:

Hope, that would help.
