Let’s face it, it doesn’t matter what us purists think of the new release, demand is still gonna be high as usual.
Indeed. I can't imagine being able to walk into a Rolex dealer, even on the day of release (assuming they have any in stock), and buying one outright. The only sales will be to folks on a long waiting list, and only then to those who've bought a lot of watches already and have a favored-status relationship with the dealer.

If I were in the market for one of these, I'd go immediately to the web and start looking on the grey market. And spend a few thousand extra.

I completely disagree.

I think the sales go to people that are much more important than the people on the list. Hahaha

Gosh, is there anything modern that resembles that one? That is a beauty.

I guess the Tudor BB58 kinda resembles it, anything else?

I agree that the more well known people in the watch community often toe the line, seemingly to appease the brands.

But we all know that new and the departing ceramic subs are just basics as a WIS. Wei wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a new sub except as a gesture to the brand. If he were wearing a sub it might be a double red? Maybe a comex? Maybe an explorer dial? But not just a sub. He’s doing the review for his audience, not for himself.
So perhaps instead of gushing about a watch he doesn't actually like, he should tell Rolex to make one that's 38mm with the exact proportions so that most of their customers could actually wear one without looking ridiculous. There are far more customers for the watch at 38mm than 41mm. Almost the entire Asian market would like a 38mm Sub, including Wei.

There are many ways in which a watch can be bigger or smaller. A simple factor manufacturers seem not to like supplying is weight.

Both of these are so true. I'm a bracelet lover myself and I'm attracted to the Japanese titanium watches because it's actually comfortable to wear a 42mm watch in Ti. I borrowed my brother-in-law's new Sub recently and the bracelet was amazingly comfortable, but I was constantly aware of the weight on my wrist and the case looked downright steroidal. Rolex has been in 'flaunt' mode in the last 10 years with those maxi cases, and I'm happy for anyone who wants to go bold. But for those of us who like our beauty a little more low-key, a 38mm or 40mm sports watch would be outstanding. And I 100% agree about the Asian market - there's a reason vintage Rolex is so popular in Hong Kong!

Someone needs to show the Rolex design team some of these watches. This is the level they need to be at. The new offererings are exceptionally weak and uninspired. They'll be successful because of the power of the brand but will never go down in history as legendary designs.

So true. And yet this crew did come up w the ceramic Daytona and the bb58. But we're talking about 2 really top notch designs to move the brands forward in.. 5+ years? 10?

it may be a little bit on the high side but it has free shipping 😗
Which is a blessing since I’ll need to allocate those saved funds to the taxes

Me neither. I’d rather have a 321 speedy at £12k. Honestly, hulks selling for £16k. Utter madness. Making a Daytona look reasonable value at about £19k

While I am still unsure how I feel about invicta watches, that is a neat looking watch !
I have nothing against Invicta as a brand but I could never wear a watch that copied the design of another brand.

Tudor had this watch also made , a one piece model. Was auctioned for more than $400.000 if remember correctly.

Too bad Rolex isn't more like Omega. Then we would have had a Submariner 1953 Limited Edition already a long time ago. And anniversary models every 5 years 😉

Dang that is nice.

I feel like I would buy that one in a heart beat if it wasn’t too big

Same here, I don’t know much about Invicta, other than them copying designs

I don’t think I would wear any of their original designs either hahaha

Fixed it for you. Their vintage watches can be quite nice.

Not surprisingly, after being on various waitlists with my local Rolex AD for a year or so, my person just hit me with an offer for a (now) prior model date sub.

I passed because I was on wait for a no date (could stomach the maxi for the no date), but can’t stomach the maxi+date.

in any event, not surprisingly, the previoussly unibtainium is now more obtainium
