Rolex shopping in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Hi all,

I just got back from my first visit to Tokyo and while there I checked out a couple watch stores that were in Shinjuku - close to our hotel. I did visit the Rolex AD near Shinjuku station and found the same as everywhere else, no SS sports models to be found (they even chuckled a bit when I asked about them).

However, I did find some SS sports models at GMT and Yodobashi Camera. It was great to see them in person and actually try some on (didn't take pictures) so I could see how they looked on my wrist and their presence. Thought the forum might enjoy a few pictures I captured.

Enjoy.

Happy hunting!

There definitely used to be, not sure now. Lots of usa dealers now make frequent trips out to Japan, and buy up inventory to sell back in US.

Prices are very high, $22K USD for a BLRO GMT is way too high. They trade for around $16/7K in US.

Tokyo is a great place to look at vintage and modern Rolexes, but not a good place to buy them if you live in U.S. The prices are just way too high. Much cheaper in the U.S.

100% agree with @swish77. But, it was really fun looking at them and being able to try on many that I had never seen in person. Really helped me figure out what my next Rolex will be - I was going back and forth between the SkyDweller and the Explorer II Polar.

not just watches. Electronics, cameras/lenses, etc. japan is no longer the place to hunt.
Even japanese whiskies. .... it's more expensive in Japan.
