Hard to believe the great paperclip scandal was 10 years ago! For those who have not witnessed the beauty of that thread, take a look:

Low and behold, the paperclip repair has returned, although it's a little less shady, and a whole lot more obvious:

A watch I have in my shop right now came this way - a watchmaker had repaired the bracelet using a paperclip - an "emergency" repair. Made me think of the great paperclip scandal of 2015...

That was before my time but, yikes, that was pretty wild, one of the pitfalls of collecting sought after vintage watches. A lot can happen in 50-60 years.

Not sure - it was about his absolute favourite Omega model after all...😉

Dang, hard to believe the paper clip scandal was 10 years ago.

I figure I would add a pic. Bought this one about 13 years ago this month. I still own it. I think everyone should have a speedy in their collection (minus the paper clip).

With the return of the paperclip and @nonuffinkbloke it’s like the good old days of OF!
Well thankyou David. I've looked on quietly over the past few years. It has, however, encouraged me to enjoy my old Omega Speedmaster 105.012-65, in the way my Dad enjoyed it. Good quality wrist time.

Here it is, against the back drop of a centuries old sheep wash pool, close to a lovely old English pub.
Now that's quality wrist time!

A classic returns! I've used a split pin in the past, a peened over steel rod, but never a paperclip.

That was fun reading ! Specially the answer and counter argumentation of the so called dealer… incredible as how some grown up look like 5 years old boys…
To your new pictures : calling this a repair is also fun.
