Finally got my 145.037 Speedmaster mkii Telestop back from Adam Lewis after a thorough restoration. And what a great job he did. The case finish and hand relume are fantastic.
The watch now has the correct Telestop pushers and crystal. It had previously been fitted with standard pushers, possibly easier to source and operate. Quite a few of these seem to have had the same treatment and now are being put back as they were intended.
Shame there is no definitive answer to why, or for what, these were actually made but still a nice oddball. And they only made 50!.
    cheers.

I like the rarity of these. Here's mine:

Pushers are readily available from Omega. I ordered some a while back just to see what they looked like...

What was the reason behind the use of such big pushers ?

My guess would be so you could use it off-wrist, like a stopwatch. Looks like it would be rather uncomfortable to wear with those big pushers.

The pushers are longer and threaded at the base to allow attachment of cables for remote activation of the chronograph. I think the only surviving example of the cable set up is in the Omega museum, shown in the picture above. Thanks tdn.
There are a few OF threads on these watches but no definitive answer on their intended use.
From the fact only 50 were made and many put back to standard pushers they do not appear to have been a success. Amazing that for such a tiny production run you can still get the pushers and correct thickness crystal from Omega.

Mine say Hello to yours , still hunting for the remote command or the aluminium cans over the pushers, but lucky me, I have a full case as spare.

Good luck with the hunt for the remote attachments or caps. I am debating the future of my Telestop, I like to wear my watches and unfortunately this is just not one I see on my wrist. It was an impulse purchase when I spotted the.case reference on a local mk2 ebay sale and realised the watch could be a Telestop.
I already have a MK2 racing dial that I love and wear to death and I think the Telestop was actually all about thrill of the hunt and pleasure in returning an unusual chronograph back to original specification.
    Cheers.
