If you’re in the UK maybe 800-850 quid, the 9K gold ones have gone in the 500-600 quid range in nice shape in the past, this should carry a decent premium over that and is a nice example. I would not bid on it if outside of the UK for import duty reasons, but for a UK buyer who isn’t paying VAT or anything on it, that price makes sense imo.

The highest bid was £870 in the end, and went for £770 I think

Winning bid was 1095 quid, which is a bit high for a Geneve even in the UK, there will be more for sure

Bloody hell.

I bid £750, then it kept asking to bid more so I gave up and stopped looking. Jeez £1095 I didn't stand a chance lol.

Nice sharp 9KT gold Geneve Cal 1030 hand-wound dress piece in the UK, this will go for a lot less than the 18K gold case as its a local production 9KT variant but still a decent dress piece that looks quite attractive

Thanks, I did get it! My total with tax and shipping comes to $488. Happy with the price.
Ok, back from a long drive home from NYC to see my son (lower Manhattan). I was actually bidding on this in the final minutes while sitting in Katz’s Delicatessen to eat, quite possibly, the world’s best pastrami on rye. Cool times for sure. Glad you got the watch!

Aww. If you still want it at the closing price, I'm happy to sell it to you at the exact price I paid with no profit to me. Guess it would just be the shipping cost added to ship from California. I could take more pics once I get it in hand so you can decide.

Very gracious of you! I’ll find the right watch to gift him. Enjoy it and wear it knowing a friend was having a fabulous time and sandwich with his son and family while the bidding was going on. Cheers and thank you for the generous offer!

You guys make are perfect examples of what make this forum great, and of course Ash @dsio for all of his time making great recommendations.

On a separate note, this Geneve would be a great low cost solid gold dress rate (assuming the bidding doesn't get out of hand).

Thanks! (And what would be considered too high for this watch?)

Quoting @dsio from the previous page "the 9K gold ones have gone in the 500-600 quid range in nice shape in the past". Converting to USD that is $600-$850, which sounds about right to me.

I'm the winning bidder at $5,200 and was surprised no one bid higher. I'll share more pics once I get it but I'm very happy with the price. This one is going to stay in my collection for a very very long time.

Bad news. Seller refunded and sent a message that he decided to keep the watch. The hunt continues.

If you believe that, I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. Some one made him a better offer.

Yep, no doubt he wanted more money or sold it somewhere else and doesn't have it anymore. It'll be funny if it gets relisted on eBay again. Either way I'm done with this seller.

Sorry about that. Do you have to accept that? I am from Germany and just have a similar case, the seller canceled the purchase, I think that the selling price was too low for him. But I will not accept this. I have a valid purchase contract with the seller and he can not cancel it unilaterally. 😡

I'm trying to see if eBay can do something about this but I'm not optimistic.

In my experience, ebay does not care about such things. I have now written to the seller and pointed out that the purchase contract is still valid from my side and asked him to deliver the watch. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking about hiring a lawyer. In my opinion, it is really not okay to cancel an auction after the fact, only when the selling price does not meet expectations. it is honestly, also about the principle.

I keep my fingers crossed for you in any case! 👍
