All thanks to you and your hard work. How do I tip my bartender?
In addition to our tips, I think eBay should be paying Ash a hefty commission 馃榾
Thanks as always. I don't think I've purchased a recommendation yet, myself, but I learn a lot about what is considered a good buy by keeping up with this thread.

I wouldn鈥檛 pay the opening bid on this one, but I鈥檇 consider making an offer around 400 perhaps on it as the condition is quite excellent indeed.

I wouldn鈥檛 normally think of this as worth mentioning here but the realised price of C shape Connies seem to be going through the roof at the moment. This cal 564 looks to be in fairly good condition and is a BIN at 拢850 (it鈥檚 in the U.K.). It鈥檚 hard to tell how defined the brushing is but the edge facets are there. I think the crown is wrong but otherwise I would say this isn鈥檛 a bad buy.

15 hours to go on this cheap little Cal 613 Geneve, nice example, currently $131, don鈥檛 overpay but they鈥檙e a solid first watch for sure and a great gift too.

the crown could be correct (there are two or three that go with this reference) but I don't think I've ever seen those 'blunted' hands on a c-case
good looking case and dial though

What would be overpaying for this? I鈥檓 looking to get my first vintage Omega but don鈥檛 have a ton of money to spend currently

I like these watches, by which I mean the style and case and the 613 movement is reliable and spares are available if needed. Also comparatively cheap to service.

That said, I鈥檇 probably go along with @Davidt about value. This is a hand winder with a quick set date function and I would probably expect to pay a bit more for an automatic with a 552/565 movement.

However, it looks nice and if you really want it, come 45 minutes to go, I鈥檇 put in a top bid of $400 and hope to scare the competition off and get some change.

But postage is very high and if you鈥檙e outside the USA, you鈥檒l have to factor in about 20% tax which probably makes the whole package over expensive.

Thanks, both of you. I鈥檒l take a look at it when there鈥檚 just a little bit of time left. Hopefully there aren鈥檛 too many more people interested between now and then

Anything above $300-350 is overpaying.
Agreed on that

I have to say that I鈥檝e just searched eBay and I rather think that Gen猫ves, generally, are going for a bit more than I expected

I was looking at this myself, but I'll stay out of your way. Good luck, and I hope you get to post photos of it soon.

Excellent example of the quality we have here on the forum.

Unfortunately, we have lurkers that feed on our evaluations and steal our prizes.

Always remember that there are thousands viewing your posted thoughts.

Sometimes a quiet reach out to a trusted mentor by pm is better suited for that wonderful piece you are chasing!

Gold capped DeVille with rough crystal and a second watch I don鈥檛 care about. Not the best photos which might keep it low-ish, can always dump the second watch to offset the price a bit.

Only two minutes left but it鈥檚 at $350 now, I鈥檒l wait for another one or save up for something a bit nicer. I appreciate you giving a newbie a chance though!

Yea the handy thing with these geneves is there are always more and most of them are in good condition. The best situation is when you have two going off close together and they cannibalise each other鈥檚 interest

I鈥檝e always wanted a broad arrowhead dodecagonal pie pan Constellation 2852, though that鈥檚 out of my current price range. A Connie linen c case date (no day) is another one I鈥檝e wanted for a while too, I feel like those are generally a fair bit cheaper. Might save up for one of those. If I see one of those models pop up on here for not too expensive I might pull the trigger. Or really anything else I like too I suppose! There鈥檚 not too many vintage Omegas I鈥檝e seen that I don鈥檛 like, even the weird obscure references that aren鈥檛 to many people鈥檚 fancy. I鈥檒l also definitely keep an eye out for multiple similar Geneves, hopefully they鈥檒l be cheaper than $350
