Pretty large vintage Omega with one of my favourite movements. Dial in perfect shape, case not abused. Original buckle included. This model hasn't taken off value-wise, but it's preferable - IMO - to the Cosmics etc. of the same era.

You need to start a thread in Vintage Omega Watches and ask your question.

BTW, asking what a watch is worth AFTER you bought it is doing it wrong.

I guess it's worth $600 since that's what you paid for it.

I see what you did there with the old cliche "it's worth whatever someone will pay for it". :D

Sometimes there are things that are so painfully obvious that it’s just funny. I can’t stop smiling at that comment.

I guess I asked the question the wrong way. I plan on keeping the watch, just wanted to check the value here as eBay and Chrono are a bit skewed in my opinion an $600 was on the lower end in price. Looks like I got a decent deal...

Yes, this thread is for recommended watches on eBay.

The forum would help you value that watch if you posted a thread in the Vintage Omega forum.

Looks fine, aside from the holey hands. There will likely be a dozen bids in the last 30 seconds of the auction.

Could be the missing box and papers keeping people away?

For a modern Speedy, people would prefer a complete set which are not difficult to find.

Sale price was $2700, which is a pretty good deal if the watch is in good condition. By serial number it's mid-1980s, so it's not so old as to be a valuable Apollo-Skylab era watch, but it is old enough that it will certainly need a service. The description is a little weak: nothing about whether it had a service or not, certainly a box and papers would have increased its value, no photos of the movement or inside caseback. Still, that's ebay for you, and even knowing that it will need a service it's still a reasonable deal.

A question for anyone who is a veteran watch buyer, is it better to buy from Ebay or maybe Amazon, or is it better to buy from a watch store? Any recommendations as to where the best place to buy is?

Veteran watch buyers start by reading the title.......
This thread has a specific purpose and we wish to keep it pure.
Please pose your question in the appropriate forum and we will be glad to help.

I share your dissapointment, but perhaps it is an idea to communicate that with the seller instead of posting it here in the thread for:

    Hello everyone,

I am now to this forum as I want to start my Omega collection and I need some help :)

I would like to buy a Costellation 167.005 year 1963, but I am not sure if the price is ok (around 1,500Euro) and if the crown is the original one

I trust the retailer when he says that it is Omega original, but maybe it is not from this exact model? I have seen plenty of pictures of the same watch with the hexagonal crown, which I think it fits more with the rest of the design, so it looks more it own part

Can you please help me (also about the price)?
    Thank you
    T
