The dial looks that way because it is in extremely well preserved condition.

The owner must have stowed it in helium for 60 years!

Inscription aside, this is a great watch for a BIN of $350. If you wanted a Cosmic in great condition with the original box, band and buckle, looks like a good choice to me.

My guess is watch was presented by a Union for a bunch of years of membership.

Edit to add: Inscription is from ~1972 so watch is probably made around that time (usually a bit younger).

A nice Turler signed Seamaster cal 268 ref 14399. I think it's got a sharp dial with nice warm radium lume. Case *may* be ever so slightly polished but this looks like one of his better offerings.

From closer0924, a recommended seller on ebay. It's for sale now for $648 and seems to come with an omega buckle too.

Edit: looks like it was sold by now. Anyone here get it?

Fast shipping. Winding is a little hard but everything else works fine. Oh crystal is not signed. Not sure whether it should be.

When did the crystal start to be signed?
Late 1940鈥檚 to early 1950鈥檚 depending on the model.

A nice cal 285 14390. It's in gold cap but still retains it's facets. It's got what appears to be a nice clean dial (slight radium burn) and pretty radium hands and plot. Will need a service it seems.

It's only 325 pounds, or ~$414 with offers accepted.

I very much like this watch and was in communication with the seller to buy it- but having bought another watch this week, I have to be sensible in this festive season.
Interesting early gold cap 168.005 with 'missing text' dial.
To my eyes, the case looks very good for a gold cap dogleg.
Nice medallion.
Nice cross hair dome-dial but there is some spotting on the dial.
For 拢750 I think this is worth considering (note: the seller say no offers)

Not suggesting this one isn鈥檛 legit as everything else seems in order and I鈥檝e been known to be wrong on many occasions, but I thought the 2 line Constellation dials were only seen on 14xxx case numbers and 50x movements.

Here's a 1964 UK catalog page. The 168.005 on the right seems to have the 2-line text:
