A decent project for someone if you can pick up sensibly as these seem to have appreciated a lot over the last 2 years

Runs and chrono works apparently. Case/dial/lobster bracelet look ok apart from clasp looks a bit worn.. New glass/service and optional language date wheel needed if you prefer.

Based on the serial number (24417xxx), it is actually one of the history making 100,000 cal. 551/561 movements:

"From the 5th October, 1964 to February 10th 1966, a consecutive series of 100,000 27.90 RA calibre 551 and 561 movements was submitted to the Bureau Officiel and all achieved the coveted “especially Good results” appellation.

Serial numbers for this series were from 24,410,000 to 24,509,999."

Wish I had the funds...

This one's really nice and comes with its (uncommon green) box and papers. If you only wanted one 501 Seamaster, it could fit the bill.

This just doesn't add up. The paperwork says it has a 28 SC movement inside (no pictures of this to confirm) which is manual wind, yet the dial says automatic. I don't think the paperwork is original to the watch unless Omega screwed up the paperwork, which I find unlikely.

I'm not saying it's not a recommended watch, just not exactly what is being described.

Edward53, ConElPueblo, and base615 all made the same comment about a 501 seamaster with an uncommon green box, which could fit the bill.

They are all completely different comments. Are you talking about the fact that ConElPueblo and I both quoted Edward53's post before adding our comments? That's how a forum works so that people know what your comment is in reference to.

Tapatalk does weird things with comments. It appears as repeats of the same comment. Go online and you see what they said.

Ditto. Tapatalk and Omega Forums do not play nicely together.

I hadn't noticed that and I agree it doesn't look right. But the same page also has model number CK 2846 and date 1961, both of which would be correct for the watch. So either there is a valid reason for this discrepancy or someone's forged the paperwork, and the papers don't look wrong to me. The seller seems to have only ever sold this and one other watch which he claims belongs to his grandfather, and that listing looks as if someone made him a BIN offer for the bracelet. IMHO this just doesn't have "scam" written on it. I might be wrong but everything looks genuine to me and I think there's an honest explanation. And I have no connection with this seller!

I think all is correct but the mention of the calibre is incomplete.

I think it should read Cal. 28.10 SC which is the old nomenclature for the 35x bumper movement variants

I think there could be a cal. 354 inside...

Response from the seller:

Hi Craig, I'm selling on behalf of my grandfather who purchased the watch during his time in the navy, so I can guarantee that the paperwork came with the watch. To be honest I'm not into the technical details of watches but my grandfather assures me that the watch is automatic but also had a manual wind. Hope this helps. I cannot add any more photos due to active bids I'm afraid.

Thanks a lot!
But ukp86 for shipping?
I know it depends on the total price, .........

Seller would probably get a better rate through the GSP, which is better for heavier and oversized items.

Not in my experience. The buyer gets absolutely creamed and I've spoken to sellers in the past who have been shocked how much their items are costing the buyer to ship. Terrible program.

I agree for smaller, lighter items, but heavier and larger, in my experience, has always been better than the seller's direct quote. However, YMMV.
