I highly doubt it, but while individual's definitions of the term "rare" vary, this one would definitely qualify, and its the real deal. The number that I personally know of with this dial is four, with three on the forum and one in the museum, this one would be the fifth, but nobody could accurately guess how many there are that we don't know of out there or that have been lost, discarded or scrapped over the years.
If its the marks on the middle to lower part of the dial, when you look at the later pictures you see those move and disappear, I'd be fairly sure they're in the plexiglass which has a few scratches on it.
"I know of another, which is the subject of this essay byDesmond:" I don't know which essay, but think I know which watch. It's not recommended here..
Last stepped date at three went over a year ago for $6k and wasn't as special as the six version or as clean: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VERY-RAR...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Not too sure and at this price there should be no doubt. Not a coincidence I think that the first photo has the hands "strategically placed."
Continuing golden theme.........this Deluxe is in nice condition, although its crystal and crown has been replaced http://www.ebay.com/itm/281607905005?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&fromMakeTrack=truePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
If you're into Turler singed Omega's, this one comes with paperwork and even the original Turler signed cloth. Really cool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MAN...192?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fc6d6938Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Hmm - perhaps I should have given it some more thought before posting it. It probably isn't correct. I quested in already when I noticed that it wasn't a solid gold case. Perhaps people should be very cautious.
I don't see anything wrong with this one. Dial looks right. Serial number on paperwork matches the watch and both say Turler very clearly. Omega Database entry corresponds to caliber and time period. Here is an analysis of another watch with a Central Watch Case gold plated case: http://omega.watchprosite.com/?show=forumpostf&fi=677&pi=3838396&ti=612581&s=0 Note that hallmarks are the same. I've changed my opinion on the origin of the case. It is Swiss made, although the company that made it was American. I've seen Wadsworth plated cases that were made in Switzerland, also. Price is high, but not ridiculous. gatorcpa
