I was offered this for £2k by the seller for cash on collection. Unfortunately I couldn't make time to travel down so had to pass.
If I'd known it would go that high I would definitely have passed on the info. To be honest though, I had no idea it would go for that amount. I figured it would just break £2k so the deal didn't seem so good at the time. I presume the the seller was pleasantly surprised as £2k cash was their suggestion.

D'ya think? Helluva lot of scratches for a case that's been polished. How can you tell it's been polished vs 50 odd years of wear?
Yes , sadly, but that was not the point . No one is comparing to a pristine example. Many of these have very worn backs that are far worse at this point in thier lives. Price and condition are two diverging criteria that the enthusiast has to deal with
I need to retire completely in order to get more spare time to find this kind of stuff.... and watches too.
