Interesting to see how Longines dials are traveling from watch to watch. Spotted this one on an early 30s watch some months ago... https://www.ebay.com/itm/133002469036
Very interesting did you retain pictures by any chance? This will not be the first example but it’s always more fun to document the various stages for posterity..... I’m curious to see how high the auction will go unless of course it just vanishes.

Unfortunately I did not. However, I recall it being a cushion shaped 20's / 30's case and movement before it was Frankensteined. Dial looks very nice though. Nifty eBay description by the way. Dial = original. Case = original. Movement = original. But the sum of the parts? ;-)

FYI: I've been in the market for the raised sector dial, so I messaged the seller to get more info on the originality prior to these posts and according to them...

"The dial is original and i have taken a close up photo of the dial out of the watch, so it can be seen.
I do not believe it has been repainted or the longines text re stamped thank you."

So that's some disheartening behavior.

FYI there has not been provided picture proof that this dial is from another watch.

Yeah true. To be honest, I'd very much like this watch to be genuine, because the hunt for the raised sector dial Longines has been a long and exhaustive one.

There are two separate questions:
- is the dial an original Longines dial: that’s what the seller is discussing; he’s not answering the second question, ie:
- is the dial original to the watch.
Howver as @Radiumpassion says, there is no photographic evidence of a problem.

@Syrte To be honest I think the dial is without question original , and makes a lovely combo with the tre tacche case. And until someone can proove it came from a non tre tacche watch I`m giving seller the benefit of doubt😀

I'm inclined to agree with you Radium. I haven't been able to track down any photos of that dial. The closest I've come is a black sector dial of the same style but printed instead of raised which came in a coin-edge case. Is it consensus that the dial doesn't look redone?

Personally, I do not comment publicly on live auctions. I do not want to influence the outcome.

No just my humble opinion looking at sellers pictures.

Re: the black sector dial 3T

IMHO, the dial does not look right with this movement and case. The dial appears to be from the mid-1930s whereas the case and movement are from the early 1940s. A small difference to some but I am skeptical.

Are you sure it was the same dial? I have found these pictures I had saved in early december — but the dial does not appear to be raised index.
Interestingly that cushion case watch also appears to be frankenized — as the movement serial number does not match the one on the case as it should. While the case serial number is a 1937-ish serial number the movement serial is a 1940s one. And Interestingly also the hands appear very similar.

This is my LCPR on eBay. Auction only.

So many questions. Along with the interest shown...Thx by the way. Has been eye opening to ME. Not bothered. But it’s simply worth noting a seller just can’t be expected to reply to each and every query.

Love to my watch fam here, of course. But please. Jump in post your own due diligence/review of posted pics. It’s an honestly described watch. Nothing held back.

This one works at a time parts are harder to source for Cal 294.

Firstly, this thread is not for inquiries. Secondly, dial and movement are lovely but in the wrong case. Movement is from late 1930s and case is from mid-late 1940s.

You are probably right but knowing the production logics of that period, I would not be surprised by a gap of some years.
