Hi there,
it’s a nice looking watch however I would not recommend it without confirmation from the Longines archive that the dial belongs to this watch.
Those sector dials are typically from the 1930s and the sei tacche case was typically marketed in the 1940s- as this movement serial confirms (65xxxxx) is definitely 1940s.
Especially at a price of 6.5k, I’d be concerned this is a dial transplant as we’ve seen so many on desirable 35mm or stepped cases.
Hi there, thanks. Yep, I wasn't really recommending, probably the opposite, but posted here so people could see. I thought it concerning, but wasn't sure. Should potentially dodgy watches get their own thread? Funnily enough, I just a bought a Longines DH watch with a lovely dial that could turn my 35mm Tre Tacche into a far more valuable watch if I was unscrupulous : )
Pretty watch but you don’t post the link. Has it been ‘modded’?
This was my eBay listing, which failed because the high bidder expressed doubts about the dial and then just disappeared. That is actually a common problem on eBay. It is very disruptive, not to mention disrespectful to the seller and the second highest bidder. I have no doubt that the dial is original. If you search in Sold Items you will see that I recently sold two very similar watches (photos below). I collected this particular model years ago but I am downsizing the collection now. Anyway, I have decided to keep this watch because it is just too beautiful. I am requesting an extract from the archives from Longines, and it will be interesting to see how it is described.
Dang. I was hoping to bid on it again.
