I think you could make a case with eBay about this "deposit" listing. You could buy it, pay, and then try to get the watch shipped claiming that "Buy It Now" means just that and the deposit thing is bulls🤬 and against eBay's rules.

Yep, I was thinking in the same lines. Just shot a report to eBay.

He also has a second listing for the same watch:

As if the Spidey senses weren't already ringing off the hook...

You really never know. A fedexophobic (almost sounds like a real word... there should be a word for fear of shipping, but there ain't) seller might use eBay to advertise an item, never intending to ship at all, and then give you a deal to avoid the risk of shipping. There are those who cannot afford to lose an $8k watch, even on a very good bet, so they might sell it face-to-face for $6k. As always, safety first, but... I might consider a day trip to Naugatuck for this.

Still has two listings with different prices. Not sure what's up with that.

Maybe he really has two watches?

A few more ultra-chrons to consider:

SS - poor pics but low BIN. Worth a shot maybe?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Automatic-Longines-Ultra-Chron-1960s-Original-Bracelet-/221716569598

18K, ending in 13 hrs - it previously sold at close to 700 euros, got relisted with a ridiculous BIN price, and now back on auction. Case and caseback might have had some polishing.

gd luck folks!

A few more ultra-chrons to consider:

Nice condition SS - it's been relisted a couple of times, but I can't see anything wrong with it.

You mean nothing wrong other than the missing bezel. 😵‍💫🤦

S'alright. I've made similar mistakes critiquing watches before, and I'll inevitably make them again.

Hmm...a bit discouraged by the last date of participation on this thread. So, for anyone who still looks here...
http://m.ebay.com/itm/141670480029
A beautiful example of a mid-30's Longines. A bit small perhaps for today's taste. And I'm sure an expert will be along to point out issues not obvious to me! (I'm okay with that as if it mattered)...
But here's the catch. The seller's reputation is stellar, and his ability to extract ridiculous high bids is astounding (still smarting over a nice Wittnauer that sold north of $400. Wittnauer, people!)
Here's instant gratification in a photo from the listing on US eBay (hope the link works but the item number is there).

Unfortunately, the dial has been refinished (though he does, fairly enough, state that in his description).

This one is not on eBay, but it looks to be a nice honest watch at a nice honest price...

It's on TimeZone. I've dealt with this seller before (original chronokid) and he is a straight shooter.

Crown is likely not correct, but it fits and looks OK.

Perfect vintage watch for a beginner.
