BTW, the opening scene of the movie is best viewed/listened to on a good system with decent speakers (turned up loud).

I had 60% of this one, but the clues to the name of the writer I would never have got. Thanks @JimInOz .Now how about this one?

Here’s one to tease you while you are worrying over the one by @Charlemagne1333 . Please don’t disappoint me with this easy one!

It is a seminar, but all attendees share a common profession. I’ll leave you to work that out.
Whenever I see gatherings like this it’s usually corporate, tech, or politics. Given that most politicians are fools, I’ll go with politicians.

Not politicians. With a tiny bit of interpretation, a Google image search will answer three of the four clues. The fourth clue is so self evident that it is, well, self evident.

Edited to add that this rebus can easily be solved, even if you ignore the first clue!

Its
April
Bowlby
Fools’ (clowns, nutters)
Laraine Day

I’m trying to make the first clue fit. Perhaps it’s a gathering of information technicians, ergo IT?

The seminar is indeed made up of IT people, or ITS! APRIL Bowlby, a group of clowns (FOOLS), and Laraine DAY. It’s (was) April Fools Day! Well done @Charlemagne1333 .
