"Just what do you think you're doing, Dave?" You are completely on the wrong track.

The red dot is HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey
Stanley/Arthur/Clarke?

That’s all I have.

What, where, when?

Oh, the humanity!
The Hindenburg disaster, in New Jersey, May 6th (today) 1937.

Not sure of the map. Is that New Jersey?
I’m not from around these parts…

@Charlemagne1333 nailed it. The information that I have is that the Hindenburg burned on May 6, 1937, in Lakehurst, NJ. That’s 84 years ago. The last of the survivors passed away fairly recently. He was 8 years old at the time. I found out that the Hindenburg could fly at 135 kmph, or about 85 mph. It took 11 days to cross the Atlantic. The map shows the Lakehurst, NJ., area. It is badly pixelated, so the Lakehurst name is hard to find, but it is there. Anyway, well done!

Another “doozie” from @Darlinboy . With a picture of Don Ho, and rolling stock from the San Francisco commuter train (the BART, for BayArea Rapid Transit), I suspect the name HOBART is involved in the answer.

I’ll take a flyer at it. HOBART BOSWORTH.

Very warm and honing in - you've cracked part of it, and definitely loosened the lid for anyone else trying to open this puzzle.

Hobart it is and... the original hint ... "Take a deep breath and shop ‘til you drop." 🍿

I don’t have much on this one, not even with @Canuck ‘s suggestion.

Chronographs/chrono/cro?
Male/man/boy?
Golden/state?
Shop/store/five-and-dime?
