Just ordered one, let's see! 馃槈
They do a great job, just make sure you keep it in a plastic bag or something so it doesn't get dusty and maintains its "tack".

I've never found the need to put my balls in a bag.
They sit on the bench and prior to use, I give them a small spritz with IPA.
Just a wipe with an IPA damp lint free cloth (ball and the caseback) gives perfect "grab".

I must just have dirtier balls than you, in fairness it鈥檚 quite humid up here in Queensland

I've heard of sweaty balls in Brisbane, but dusty ones?
Maybe Birdsville would be a place to protect your balls from dust?

Interested in the process to do that.
(not knocking it, just like to see how it's done).
A little big for my rotary broach on a lathe sadly 馃榿

But just bore out the inner diameter, use a small drill to spot the corners, then run an endmill on the mill along the sides.

If sharp corners are necessary, use a file or some sort of shaper (or even a sharp knife!) to make square corners.

If I had a larger rotary broach, I could do it trivially on the lathe.

Superglue a nut to it and use a wrench

Success! But ... I'm not sure this watch is salvageable. The balance is spinning so may be something I can work with. We'll see. I didn't have a nut, so just used a socket. Still worked!

Glad you got it! The movement itself doesn't look too bad, but a cheap one, balance looks like a pin pallet I saw previously, but obviously can't tell from that.

Discoloration is all green, which means it is from copper coming out of the base metal case, so not necessarily that water got in, so much as touched the gasket.

Good to know. Since I'm going to try to electroplate this case, seems like a good candidate if I mess it up. I like the face and the challenge so if I can restore it, though cheap, it'll be priceless to me. 馃槀

Projects are their own reward! I'm trying to stick to movements with commonly available parts in case I lose them/break one.

Though even if I can't fix it, it's a fun time anyway!
