·With a bit of excitement the Railmaster arrived today. I know I am a bit late to the party, but what a cracker of a watch! The completionist in me had kept whispering that I had to finish the set. The voices, you know?
I had received an email that the watch had been delivered, which I found strange because no one was home. Just in case it had I jumped into the car to check.
The box was left on the top of the stairs, in clear view of the street which I think is a bit nuts. It has happened before- my neighbours take it in from the doorstep to keep safe. They’re the best kind of neighbours to keep around in my opinion. I’m overdue baking them a cake to say thanks.
Overall impressions after unboxing and trying it first on the sand coloured nato were very good, and I think each watch in the set deserves its own merit.
I’ve since sized the bracelet and as with the others in the series I don’t mind the fit, and the non taper. For a smaller watch it helps to give a bit more heft. This will serve as a great casual watch.
Finding one new old stock was easy, there are plenty on Chrono24 at the moment, Jomashop also ran a 25% off special last week. I haggled a few sellers on Chrono for a better price with some success.
I will see how the movement settles in over the next month as the watch has been sitting for 7 years. Will see how the timegrapher numbers go before deciding if it is a good idea to have it serviced. Does anyone have any input or experience with watches that have sat for this amount of time or longer?
I had already sent the Speedmaster in for its seven year check up late last year and it came back better than ever.
Apologies for the pretty ad hoc photos, new watch day photos are always a bit rough this end.
