Help -- 300 Master Co-Axial versus Trilogy versus New Bracelet?

This is a question I've gone back and forth over since I first got my 300 Master Co-Axial at the end of 2015, rekindled once Omega announced the Trilogy in 2017, and now with the announcement of the new 300 a few weeks ago -- whether to keep my trusty 300 as-is; swap it out for a Trilogy; or replace the bracelet with the new one (if that works) Thoughts and pictures below and advice wanted!

I have a ~6.75 inch wrist. When I first bought my 300 five-ish years ago, I found it a bit thick, but loved the mix of the retro style and ceramic bezel, and rationalized that I could pull off a 41mm watch. In the years since, I've gravitated toward smaller pieces.

Then, when Omega announced the Trilogy in 2017, I was very interested -- the Trilogy Seamaster, with its 39 mm diameter and thinner case was very appealing.

Over the years, I tried the Trilogy Seamaster, but it never quite "clicked" -- the smaller diameter is nice, but it still felt thick for its size. I also prefer the cut-out markers and Liquidmetal bezel of the 300MC, along with the less aggressive fauxtina. Then, when I heard that the 300 would be updated, I figured I would sit tight, hoping that Omega might bring down the diameter closer to the Trilogy. To be honest, I'm not wild about the 300 redesign -- I don't like the cut-out numerals, and the bezel feels like a downgrade. But, the new bracelet looks like a big improvement, as they replaced the protruding endlinks with ones that would wrap a wrist like mine a lot more nicely. And I realized that, more than anything else, it's those pesky endlinks that make the 300MC wear large on my wrist:

So now, I'm thinking about just swapping out the bracelet with that of the new 300 -- if, of course, that works. Which no one seems to know! And if it doesn't, I still feel like the diameter of the Trilogy is better suited to my wrist. From certain perspectives, the 300MC seems to wear larger than its 41mm, irrespective of the endlinks:

To my surprise, my local OB still had a Trilogy in stock, so I went to try it on recently (for the umpteenth time), and there are some comparison pics below.

In short, I'm really torn. Do I stick with the 300MC and make my peace with its awkward bracelet? Do I hope that the new one fits and that it'll make it wear smaller? Or do I just cast my lot with the vintage redesign and go wholeheartedly with the Trilogy?

Advice appreciated, particularly from those who have worn or owned both....

Suppose I am in a similar boat as you: A 300MC owner with sub 7 inch wrists.

I like the 300MC aesthetics more than the trilogy, and the more favorable size of the trilogy does not outweigh the additional cost. So I kept my 300MC.

As far as the new one goes, I again prefer the 300MC aesthetics, so I won’t be upgrading. I would consider a bracelet upgrade (assuming compatibility) if the price was right and I could first sell the standard one. But most likely I’ll keep it as-is, and wear my Artem strap when I want to switch it up and give it a lower profile.

Thanks — seems like we’re in the same boat about both the new one, a potential bracelet switch, and having sub-7” inch wrists 😁

I’m just still undecided about that size/aesthetic trade-off vis-a-vis the Trilogy!

...and the Trilogy (on Uncle Seiko flatlink) vs the new SM300...

If I had to order them according to my preference:

1) Trilogy (several reasons)...
2) new SM300...
3) old SM300...

Regarding price: picked up my Trilogy for cheaper than either of the other two (lucky, I know) ... but I’m not seeing many for grabs anymore.

I would keep what you have already. Personally I do not like the female end links that Omega has been doing lately. The current generation of 8900/8800 planet oceans have this style.

If it is confirmed that the new bracelet fits and you do switch out for it, I would swap out the 6 position adjustable clasp of the 300mc on to it, supposedly the new one is using the 3 position adjustable clasp.

I'm only considering the new SM300 for the bracelet, if it fits the old one; not interested in the watch itself. How did you find that it wore/made the new one wear in terms of size and fit?

That's the big if, apparently! The 6-position clasp might look odd on the new bracelet though, since the new one tapers and the old one doesn't.

Unless Omega designed a new clasp for this new 300MC, however I suspect they are using the 117STZ00466 - 3 adjustments clasp which is 20mm in width. I did the adjustable clasp mod for my 2500 PO recently and there were only 3 different adjustable clasps to choose from. Which all of them are 20mm in width.

117STZ004666 - 3 Adjustments
117STZ001154 - 6 Adjustments
117STZ001159 - 6 Adjustments w/divers extension

I'm still waiting to see a decent picture of the clasp on the new 300, but from the back it looks like it is narrower than the previous ones. My guess is that they made a narrower version of the 4666.

As for the new bracelet in general, pictures of the back of the endlinks show the little ledge that Omega is adding on their new bracelets. It requires a notch in the case to fit properly, so my guess is they are not compatible without modification.

I too prefer the aesthetics of the 1st gen 300MC. To me, the best solution to the bracelet dilemma is this:

That is quite the solution! 😀 I'm still hung up on trying to wear it on a bracelet, though.

That’s excellent.

I got my standard issue SM300 preowned in a private sale for approx. 55% off retail, so I’ll have a hard time finding a Trilogy at that price!

Does this mean that, if you found the Trilogy at the right price, you would choose it over the 300MC? 😉

I would give the edge to the 300MC over the trilogy if I was comparing them. So the only scenario where I would choose the trilogy would be if I was getting it at a cheaper price than my 300MC (highly unlikely). Scarcity and value retention is a nonfactor in my decision (purchase price is what I care about).

Long story short, I like the 300MC dial design and caseback more than I like the slimmer case of the trilogy.

Sounds like you guys may have made up your minds, but I give my input anyway. I've owned the 300MC and currently own the Trilogy. My wrist is 6.75" I really liked the 300MC and the retro design, but the bezel was just so big. I absolutely love my Trilogy and it will never leave the collection. The size is perfect, I love the countdown bezel, and actually prefer the case back. Below are them on my wrist.
