Questions about new 3861

I just checked mine - 64.5 hours
Mine clocked in at 58 hours though I ran the chronograph for a few hours during that time.

I want to bump the micro adjust smaller, can I use a spring pin tool or do I need something else?

That should work as long as it is small enough to fit the hole. Even a straightened out paper clip will work.

a toothpick will do the trick and not scratch the metal if it slides.

As long as it was not engaged when running out of power, it did not have any effect 馃槈

I got the Omega NATO strap.

Totally changes the character of the watch. I absolutely love it.

Also a new question, just curious. Are these sold out?

When I bought mine the website said out of stock but I called Omega directly and they said they actually had 16 in the united states. Now if you go to the website it just says 'contact a botique' and the price for one on watchfinder is now above MSRP.

Doesn't really matter since I got mine, but I would be curious to know.

At least in Europe they're not sold out. They are easy to buy, even with a discount.

I think they proclame 50h because after that, with low amplitude, precision must be compromised, far from METAS specs.

New question; It's kind of uncomfortable winding the watch. Is there like a plastic stick with a cup on the end or something I can buy to wind with? I know it's a small thing but if I'm going to be doing this 365 days a year a $5 plastic tool would be worth having.

Have you tried winding by running your index finger along the back of the crown? Most people new to Speedy ownership try winding the crown with the conventional, two-fingered 'plier' grip, but it's generally much easier to just manipulate the crown from the back with one finger. That's been my experience, anyway.

I find my 3861 much easier to wind than I did my 1861, less resistance and better grip, YMMV

In my experience the entire series of 861, 1861 and 3861 movements all vary between samples in their winding 'feel', some wind relatively easy, others are a bit stiff, but none presented any real problem. Most eventually loosen up with a bit of use.

I just received a Sapphire Speedmaster as a gift and I cannot tell you how excited I was when I got it. I鈥檝e been reading this forum and others for a long time and knew that I wanted Speedmaster to be my first manual watch.

Sure enough after hearing for years about the beauty of this watch, I could not believe it when I was surprised with the 3861 by family.

I鈥檝e had it for about 2 months now and have thoroughly enjoyed the daily 8a - 8:30a daily ritual of winding the watch. Hearing the quiet clicks and feeling the manual wind happening is as satisfying a feeling as I鈥檝e read about. That being said, as a new manual watch owner, I did notice something I had a question about and I鈥檓 hoping someone could help assuage any possible concerns.

Up until about a week ago everything felt and sounded as expected with the wind. Watch would take 20 - 30 rotations before it would stop me from going further and I never pushed it. However, about 5 - 6 days ago I was winding it when during approx. 3 rotations there would be one louder clicking noise and the physical wind itself would jump much more quickly to the next click. Almost as if the cog on that exact turn was loose and it jumped to the next one.

This feeling / sound doesn鈥檛 happen on every rotation and is not every single click through the rotation when it does happen but it can occur approximately 5 - 6 times throughout the winding process. Watch is still running just fine and it always gets to the point where it stops me from winding any further. So my questions are:

Is this something I should be worried about? Should I bring it to the AD or reach out to Omega directly?

As long as the watch is functioning okay, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Same as above, no. It just stops.

To keep it short:
- When the chrono is engaged, it requires more torque than without.
- The mainspring delivers less and less torque as it unwinds (this is not linear, watchmakers/companies always worked hard to get close to constant torque delivery)
- At one point, it cannot deliver the necessary torque and the watch stops. Disengage the chrono, less torque is required and the watch can restart.
