Dear Folks,

recently I discovered my love for vintage GS and I found an example I am interested in BUT: it is only marked „Japan“ at 6:00. I know that only first generations of GS were marked that way. Should I stay away? thanks in advance!

Hey there. Friendly reminder. Whenever you need to know something about a watch, pictures are essential. If this is indeed a 5646-7010 then it's off. My guess is this dial has been cleaned at some point and they messed up the marking, then looked at a grand quartz and poorly redid the text. The font they used is off as well. This is not a first gen so you're right.
Since there are no other pictures and you have no other concerns I'm guessing you found the rest of the watch ok.
Proper text&order is: Japan 5646(case code) -7010(ref number)T. This text should be curved and span from the 33'min marker to 28'min marker.
Another friendly reminder. Whenever Seiko is up for debate, google search is your best friend. These models are plentiful and one of the best way to get into GS, therefore there's plenty of information out there there. It's not like an Omega piece where there are a lot of variations.
This is the first thing that came up when I googled the case code and reference:

Hope this helps.

I marked something that seems odd to me. What happened over there? Redone indices or/and track?

Thank you very much! Yes the rest indeed looks quite good. But your comment makes a lot of sense! I spent hours researching models with Japan only dials but wasn't able to find a matching example. The spacing between the single letters is just way to narrow. Thank you very much, I will look for another piece then!
