Question about new new to me Speedmaster Auto

Purchased a 2012 Speedmaster Auto that had a recent trip back to Omega for service. Movement is the 1164. Rotor was replaced during the recent service. Noticing that this watch is quite a bit noisier than my other automatics - is that typical - almost sounds like a rattle if I move my wrist a lot. Keeps great time - everything works - just wondering about this level of rotor noise.

Pretty sure the 1164 is based on the Valjoux 7750, which is notorious for its loud and wobbly rotor noise and feel, so probably normal 👍

I have a few automatics with noisy rotors— some vintage and some thoroughly modern. As long as I know the watch is in a well-maintained condition, I kind of like the sounds. That’s a great looking Speedy auto by the way!

Thanks. My first modern Omega.

As a big Valjoux 7750 fan, you not only get used to the wobble, but it actually gets comforting after a bit. In a weird way you can actually really “feel” the automatic movement working because of the rotor activity. I’m sure that makes me a bit odd, but love, love those watches 😀

More importantly, that’s a great looking Speedy Auto. Wear in good health 👍

So it’s normal to sound … loose is a good word. I would almost say the rotor was touching the back of the watch from the noise.

Can confirm it’s 7750 based.
