Hey guys, I’m new here. I just got this pie pan and have some doubts about its case - I’m not sure if it’s original. I’m looking for some guidance, and since I still have the chance to return it, any help would be appreciated

There you go, I asked ChatGPT about the SGR badge, seems it’s a replacement

I would not rely whatsoever on chat gpt giving reliable answers, quite the opposite.

SGR is just the case-maker, S. Graber, I believe. ChatGPT is not very good at authenticating or identifying watches.

The bigger problem is that the case-back does not belong to that case, since it is obviously not a stainless 168.005. You can check with google.

What seems off to me are the legs—they’re straight and sharp and don’t look like other watches of the same reference. What do you guys think: is it an aftermarket case?

It's not a 168.005 mid-case, it doesn't have dog-leg lugs. It's some sort of gold plated case, I have no idea whether it's a different Omega case or not, who cares. There's no reason to spend time researching it. Just move on.

Unless you happen to be sitting on a 168.005 mid-case/bezel and can get the watch dirt cheap. Then you should grab it.

It's definitely not worth anywhere near that. What I'm seeing is a legitimate piepan dial, albeit with some significant condition issues, a quite polished 168.005 case-back in steel which should be paired with a dog-leg steel case, and a gold-filled or gold-plated Seamaster case off some totally unrelated watch.

It's not worth buying at any price as its just a pile of parts slapped together, but the total value of the parts is in the low hundreds range.
