It was recommended to me by a friend who is watch maker as well - and I trusted his opinion and i know it was made in good faith.

I guess no hope for me to try and argue my money back?

At this stage after discovering that they have lied to me I am not inclined to bring it back

Sorry to hear about your problems. Vintage watches can give issues but for these calibres, resolving the issue with the stem coming out is usually just by replacing a couple of parts. It can be far more involved if the mainplate is worn but that's unusual.

It sounds like the repair defeated this watchmaker and that can happen, unfortunately. If I were you, I would ask for some recompense and try Simon Freese. It's not a complicated watch to service and Simon is very well regarded. He's the one I usually recommend to my customers now I have retired.

Good luck, Chris
